To me it was a very pleasant surprise - I really enjoyed it - and had to play it twice in a row. Dynamics and surround are very good - and I really liked the moderne melody in a classic instrumentation presentation. Great songs.

Maybe I had the perfect day for this kind of album - sometimes one are just in the wrong mood to enjoy certain albums. Some days dynamics and surround quality changes - I believe this to be true.... :)

You are so right! Maybe I should change my name to Moody Blue..! :D

Meantime I will give this one another try, thanks for the reminder and a fresh perspective on it,
I don't think too many people here have picked this one up yet or just haven't felt compelled to discuss it?

I can only speak for myself - but I change my opinion on many albums all the time - and my surround set-up too. Luckily I recognize this (not always) and give things another chance.

I like the Tacet discs, only have those 3. Pretty much a classical music noob, but when I like melodic, "light", "positive" classical music - which other discs should I look for?

Edit: the Ravel disc is great - Bolero makes me think of Bo Derek

Though I haven't heard Tacet's rendition yet (it's on my to-buy list), Vivaldi's The Four Seasons is remarkable, and even if it gets intense I still consider it as "light". Winter is my favorite part :music

Here's a live performance of Winter led by Mari Samuelsen on solo violin:

*from the samples I could hear on the net, the Tacet version is softer, and a bit slower. (the youtube vid I posted isn't the best sounding clip out there, but it is my favorite performance)

No problem :)

Now, if only Hollywood Records would turn to surround releases, I'd love to have the score for the movie The Village !

Have you approached them? Maybe they'd hire you to do some surround mixes for them!

Even in the best of circumstances, I couldn't live/work in a crowded place like L.A., and with all my obvious wit and charm I'd be kicked out and banned from the premises in no time !!! :violin

Many years since I have listened to this, have forgotten how good it sounds, great active discrete surround and a dynamic dts soundtrack. And the songs.. awesome! The Dust in the Wind cover is cool.

And there are cowgirls :)

I really have no idea if a "long distance" thing would work for them.

But I just like to compose music and the mix builds itself while I do.. JUST mixing everyday would basically be purgatory for me

Berg's Flute Mystery. This came from 2L with both blu ray and SACD in 5.1. After a/b testing, the clear winner was...I haven't a clue, they both sounded fantastic. I may give the nod to the BD as it had video of the Northern Lights dancing across the screen as it played....and I like shiny bobbles, duly noted with my PF immersion purchases. Now where did I put those marbles?
