Following with one of my favourite AF SACDs.

I still haven't warmed up to the 4.0 on this one, I prefer the stereo. I know I'm in the minority here, and I have no idea why everyone likes it so much and I don't. It's me, right? You can tell me it's me...won't hurt my feelings. Much. ;)

You know that you don't have to agree with everyone all the time. ;)

The fact of the matter is that I had never owned that album before so the Stereo mixes weren't sacred to me. I take these Quad mixes for what they are and I really enjoy playing them often. I'm sure you have albums that you like a lot which don't do much for me.

This album has amazing material on it, but yes, the Quad mix and fidelity were a big disappointment to me when I first received this disc. (And it still is a pretty disappointing title in comparison to many of the others)
Maybe it's because it's an RCA Quad mix. Jon mentioned in the other thread how the RCA tracks on "The Collection" don't come off as well as the others, and I agree completely. They just didn't nail Quad as much as Columbia did perhaps.

Sheila Nicholls Wake DVD Audio, a fantastic disc been spinning it all week at home and in the car. How do you get Gavin Harrison, Richard Barbieri and Jakko Jaksyk to work with you? This one deserves a poll thread. Did i mention the strings? Oh yeah, she's good.

What are the mixing and mastering details on this one?

Listened to Ant Phillips Sides last nite, and Sluggo by Mike Keanely-can't seem to get enough of Sluggo in surround.

And then to top off the night........Wendy Carlos electronic masterpiece soundtrack on the Film "Clockwork Orange" in DD 5.1

Ludwig Van never sounded so good with "a little ultra violence"!!;)

Katatonia The Fall Of Hearts. There is an error on this DVD. The tracks will not play after each other. Once a track is over it is just silence although the seconds are going by on the bottom right. You have to press fast forward to get the next track to start.

As far as mix goes....................Mostly great, one annoying issue. Recessed, weak sounding guitars. Full review to come...............

Well then I'm really glad I didn't waste my money on this disc if it doesn't play correctly.

In the meantime, I'm revisiting my Blood Sweat & Tears 4.0 SACD from Audio Fidelity. :)
