One day I'd dearly love for us all here to pool our knowledge and compile a comprehensive QQ list of Classical discs with discrete surround... Brett, over to you! :)

I'd welcome that. I've got quite a few classical surround SACDs but with only a select few being other than the 'in the hall' approach. Most sound excellent but I'd be curious to learn of titles that bravely place discrete elements in the surrounds.

I have found that Tacet surround recordings are discrete.

Sounds like quite an undertaking, but I'm in! :brew

Let me repeat my comment from another thread about 2L's superb Mch SACD/Bluray releases. Many are very immersive like Tacet's.

Here is a list: http://www.sa-cd.net/alltitles2/393/1

And... There is an ongoing list of immersive recordings over on SACD.net:

This Bluray also includes a Mch SACD.

It is music for brass and percussion. I know military staff bands might seem a bit different, but these guys and gals are GOOD! The music program is very entertaining and SPECTACULARLY recorded in immersive surround sound.

For anyone interested, please read Geohominid's excellent review on SACD.net... http://www.sa-cd.net/showtitle/8279

'Crossing The Channel' is definitely immersive: the booklet lays out which of the four women is standing where, and on a couple of cuts shows the path in which they processed while singing, looks much like a football play diagram. Beautifully recorded, how much you like it might depend on your tolerance for an hour of so of very similar female vocal timbre in a very reverberant space. When the mood to be standing in a Romanesque Church listening to vespers strikes, this will scratch the itch.

I paid just a little more than that. And it's still for going for a song. The lyrics might not be the greatest, but I like the music very much. Nice surround mix.

If I'm not mistaken, you got some Elvis the other day. Still rock and rolling? How are you liking it?

Love the Elvis. It's a fun album....very nice sounding.

This little puppy arrived in my mailbox yesterday. I got it for the exclusive Fleetwood Mac track, which is great. But of course now it just whets my appetite to hear the rest of the album which is sitting in a vault somewhere.

I bought that disc for the same reason and although I have the Rumours surround disc...it made me daydream about surround versions of albums like Tusk...Tango In The Night..Then Play On..Mystery to Me...and Bob Welch's French Kiss..in other words I had a Mac attack:music
