I've just received this and I'm so happy to have finally found a copy as it's long been out of print and was only released in Japan. This is a fabulous and sweetly discrete Quad mix of Smetana's greatest work recorded in 1975 for the Supraphon label. All I can say is WOW!

TUSK 5.1

I know, I know, but every time I listen to this I simply cannot for the life of me hear what others "sort of" complain about. I really cannot. I think it sounds great, so rich and full. Wonderful. If this one has issues, then I cannot imagine what a great one sounds like. ;)

Giving the blu rays a workout these days. Still slowly working through the Chicago box. Almost done. Greatest hits is next.. All excellent so far. Also a little steven Wilson 4.5. Also excellent. Great sound. Love the two PT makeovers. Right now listening to Who's Quadraphenia. Thumbs up.

oh btw, I'm being dragged to a karaoke bar tomorrow night.. I think Dave T said around 8 but I'm going to get him to come over to mine first for a few drinkies to help relax me a bit before any of that nonsense! :D

Lindsey Buckingham - Songs From The Small Machine on BD-V 5.1 (there is a 4.0 DD option)
What a fabulous guitar player. Excellent fidelity on this disc.

I walked into a karaoke bar in Hawaii a few years back. I was midway through my 2nd drink chatting with my wife when the guy running the event comes over and hands me a microphone. He starts trying to talk me into taking a turn. The cost was $1 per song. So I tell him, "I cant sing".

His reply: "If you have one dollar, you CAN sing"

I sang 4 songs that night. My favorite karaoke song is "Cover of the Rolling Stone" by Dr. Hook. Good times. Good times.

Fab! Love that story! :)

Thanks for retelling it :upthumb

(I also love Dr. Hook but that's another story! :p )

"..and I wish I could have made it
More like the movies for you
Some pretty technicolor way it's never been
I'm sorry when I kissed you
You only heard me whisper
You never got to hear those violins.."

Edit: Wonder why Dr Hook never had anything in Quad?

Pretty big act, many hits smack bang in the 70's, were on Quad labels during that period (Sony, then EMI/Capitol afaik), nice arrangements, great production values..

..always fascinates me what made the cut for Quad (mixing and/or release, as we know lots of stuff got mixed into Quad that never saw release in Quad!) and what didn't..

Mannheim Steamroller: Fresh Aire 8

I've played this 3 or 4 times; it's pretty good. Very good fidelity. The mix isn't super discrete but definitely creates a large surround field that doesn't disappoint. The music is sort of classical with a strong electronic influence.
