I actually tried it with/without bass management, in 'Direct' mode, 'Pure' mode, in DTS-MA 6.1 processing, and PLIIx 7.1 processing, and with/without Audyssey too. I do have somewhat smallish surrounds though. My setup is a 7.1 dedicated home theater room with two subwoofers that also doubles as my music listening room. My four surrounds are only rated down to 60hz so I have them crossed over/bass managed at 70hz to be on the safe side. My fronts L-C-R go down to about 40hz, but I have them crossed over/bass managed at 70hz also. The Chicago quads do sound very good on my setup, I think the main thing I was saying is that I just prefer the more modern 5.1 mixes of II and V, although the quads do seem to have better overall discreteness. It's nice to actually have options on things like this, and I will be listening to both versions at different times, as I like different things about both versions.
