Going for Baroque, eh!? :upthumb

How about a little Bach on guitar?

Suite in C minor BWV 997; Suite in E minor BWV 996; Prelude, Fugue & Allegro E flat major BWV 998; Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme BWV 645

Ismo Eskelinen (guitar)
(Alba SACD)

I checked this out quickly on Spotify (stereo). Excellent. How's the multi-channel on the SACD? Worth it?

"Natural" is how I'd describe the ambient surround mix. Alba's engineers found the right balance. All the warmth and detail of the instrument is beautifully captured while allowing plenty of air above the strings. Ismo Eskelinen has released 2 SACDs of Bach's music on guitar. Both are excellent. I suppose Disc 1 would be a good place to start as it contains Bach's popular Ciaccona. But, Disc 2 contains the delightful chorale prelude "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" and the famous Bourrée.

Here's an in depth review of Ismo Eskelinen's 1st Bach SACD...

Chicago VI quadio. This is my first time listening through every album in the set chronologically and I'm really digging the album cuts that I'm not really familiar with more than the radio hits that I know. :)

My first listen of Bruckner's Symphony No. 5 and it has quite a different "vibe" as his 2, 3 and 4 have. I like it though. Brooding is the word I would use to describe it the first movement. Perfect for a rainy Sunday morning like today. Then things lighten up. It's quite lovely.

Isn't it just the most wonderful set..!! :wave

Its heartwarming to know (and its encouraging in that it gives me hope for the future of Quad and 5.1 music whenever I'm on the brink of despair with surround down the line!) that 15+ years into my Surround sound hobby the major labels can come up with what I feel is, in this Chicago Quadio Blu-ray Audio Set, one of if not THE most significant Surround Sound reissue releases possibly ever..!! :worthy

WOW :yikes

Ps. To Craig Anderson, channeling (Pun intended! ) Wayne Tarnowski = BRAVO fellas! :upthumb

I doff my top hat in your general directions (y) (y) (y) (y)
