Having some fun comparing the sound and the three slightly different 5.1 mixes for one of my favourite STEELY DAN tunes from GAUCHO.
"BABYLON SISTERS" from DTS CD, and DVD-A .......and from the live Two Against Nature Sensual Surround DVD in DTS.
All fantastic mixes, btw.
Which one is your favourite?
I'm not Fizzy.. ..but personally prefer the mix on the DTS CD.
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire
I SO want to like that disc. For some reason, to my ears, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard....@:
I think it's some of the best stuff ever, and Billy Cobham is one of my biggest influences as a drummer. To me it's 'The Original' jazz/metal. It's almost brutal in it's approach and has just absolute flurries of notes in some parts, and it's incredibly technical too. Maybe 'military-grade-psychedelic-jazz-metal'? @:
But I can totally understand how that this is not everyone's cup of tea. It's like being hit over the head with a Stradivarius or a bottle of fine wine. :violin
I should have clarified. I love the music. I just think the disc is shrill.
Billy Cobham - Spectrum (2016 SACD)
