Hey GOS. Not sure if you heard from Adam. You should have received an email link from Ben in your email. Unfortunately I clicked the link I received yesterday and it says the link has expired. One day? Yikes. Hope to hear back from Ben tomorrow. Oops. Thought you had bought the disc.
Steve

I emailed Ben and he sent me a good link within minutes. The flacs sound great. We really need to support his efforts!

Now playing: Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize

"Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven" by Love & Rockets (LPCM 5.1 surround Blu-Ray)

A wonderful disc!
Is anyone else reminded of "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" by Genesis when looking at the surrealist imagery on the screen?

:)

I've just been looking at the stockpile of surround discs I'd been building up to listen to during what I thought was going to be many many months of unemployment, 12 albums, plus the Chicago - Quadio set, and surround discs in the King Crimson - On (& Off) The Road, UK, and Pink Floyd Box Sets. I've been really really lucky and I start freelancing for a company on the 16th, and luckier still by flying out to their European headquarters for a week, it'll be warmer! So these last few weeks have been busy sorting out my redundancy and setting up a company to freelance through, and so I've only managed to listen to a small amount of music as I've been on the phone, computer, or both. And I've got MEGA-:51banana:-withdrawl symptoms, so hopefully next week I'll be able to put in some time doing some serious :51banana: listening!

Ben Craven - Two False Idols [5.1 download]

OH hell yeah...great music. You all really need to go to Bandcamp and purchase this very affordable album. Good stuff.

the allmanbrothersband idlewildsouth, recently got the 3 CD/Blu Ray for $26.94 from amerazone and it has proven to be a house rocker. The bonus tracks are outstanding, particularly IMOER and MR alt. Nice solid use of the surrounds and plenty of low frequency for the sub.

Bette Midler - The Divine Miss M

Wow! I just cannot get enough of this particular Quad mix. OMG, if they could only find it in themselves to release this as a Quadraphonic SACD.....we'd all get out our wallets wouldn't we? Just to hear Superstar in Quad SACD would easily be worth any price for the new release.

I BLAME ADAM FOR THIS!!!!! (Yes, you!!! ;) )

Last night:

EWG with RD
homebrewed DVDA

-----
and before that Chicago VIII and X...which brings me to the end of the "discovery" of an incredible band...
BTW, didn't know that Terry was a bass player before CTA...and he plays some WICKED bass on VII !!!! As if having one beast bassist in the group wasn't enough!!!!

Now, to revisit III , Vi, VII, VIII...oh , heck ..ALL OF THEM!!!!!

Last night I've watched Velvet Goldmine blu-ray and what stroke me was how much the last song during the credits sounded better than any other from the great soundtrack. I've muxed the last chapter and here it is - the first part of the FLAC file is the Roxy Music cover 2HB by The Venus in Furs, the other one is Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me) by Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel.

Once I figure out how to split the file, the latter goes to my best of playlist. Keys and backing vocals in the rears, enough for me. Great song, too.
Was it released before in surround? Basic search here tells me no...

King Crimson - Starless and Bible Black [DVD Audio MLP 96/24 5.1]

I didn't really want to post this here, but on the same DVD-Audio, there is a 2011 Wilson mix - MLP 96/24 stereo. I assumed it would be equally impressive in terms of dynamic range compared to the MLP 96/24 5.1. Nope. Anyone notice this? The DR on the multi channel is consistently high, while the DR on the stereo is in the 8 range! What happened?

Edit - whoops...I may have made a goof. Give me a second to double check my comments.

Seems like that happens quite a bit with a lot of albums for some reason.
I rarely ever listen to much stereo these days, especially on titles that have a surround option, so as long as the surround has the better dynamic range I'm good. As a matter of fact, I believe I'll start my evening listening/drinking/smoking session with this album!
