I remember when we bought them...you were disappointed...you already had LA Woman on DVD-A...

I know, I remember oh so well. Sometimes, when you hear things for the first time.....your expectations are just too high. And, it just is not fair to compare certain discs to others...we need to realize it's not apples to apples. Hardly ever is it...

Steely Dan Gaucho DVD Audio: Clearly a very good disc, just wish the drums (snare, tom?, I'm not instrumentally competent) could have been as good as "My Rival" throughout where they're in the surrounds (bongos?) and hit the mark for me soundwise. As fine as it is and as much as I like it, miss that clean snap of the drums. Don't get me wrong, the mix and content are extraordinary.
After listening again on the road and now at home, not sure what I was thinking before. While not my idea of the perfect drum mix (I prefer more use of the surrounds) drums are clean though not prominent. Wonder what I was listening to before this last time. Might have to put it down to beer plugs or Wendel.

I know all to well what you mean! LOL! I'm wondering where this Belgian will take me tonight. :brew

A FANTASTIC DTS CD! I saw Herb perform most of that album with the same band at Grant Park in Chicago for free. It was a double bill with George Benson. George did Nat King Cole's Unforgettable, sounding just like Nat. Then, he freaked everybody out by doing a spot on Natalie! Herb was kind enough to autograph my copy, which is in a conventional CD jewel box.

I've seen Herb at least half a dozen times live. I've met him and Lani a couple times. One of my 5 favorite artists, a true gentleman and a wonderful musician. The last time I saw him was on my first date with Joe. Joe asked me to go, not knowing that Herb was one of my favorites. The rest, as they say, is history.

Sting "All This Time" DVD-V 5.1 (Dolby)

Excellent discrete live surround mix of performance at his Tuscan estate with a pretty impressive band including Christian McBride, Chris Botti, Jason Rebello & BJ Cole.
