SO glad you took the Djabe plunge, Adam. I hope you LOVE them as much as I do. Some of the most eclectic surround music on the planet and these discs are really audiophile grade. Do watch some of the videos which accompany these dual discs.

And SPREAD the WORD. These Hungarian cats sure know how to boogie.

oh i have a few of their 5.1 releases already Ralph, recall enjoying them at the time, just never got round to/couldn't find copies of a few of their other DVD-A's.. and though this is an expensive time I just couldn't resist while they're on at 8 euros each for their Black Friday sale promotion! woo!

Great! When I placed my last order with them, they were so grateful they even included a freebie DVD~A. Such wonderful and warm, fuzzy musicians. :sun

But, disappointly, NO recipe for Goulash!:yikes

Thanks Adam for highlighting that they've a Sale, I've just gone and bought a whole lot more and created a large hole in the wallet, worth it though! They're a really good Jazz-Funk-Rock-Folk band

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours.

I cannot fathom how anyone doesn't find this title pleasing to the ears. I think it is amazingly immersive and fidelity is tops. I guess I don't get hung up on discreetness. Discreet songs can be way TOO wild IMO, and this one just sounds perfect to my ears. It's mid 70's ear candy....wonderful. :)

paul simon You're The One 5.1 MLP 88.2k 24b, is the surround impressive? Not a standout but sometimes quite good, appropriate. I like this disc, the melodies and sound quality are pleasing, it is surrounding no doubt.

Metallica - Metallica 2001 (DVD-Audio)

Powerful, loud and surround! So cool album!!!

A little Zep Leddelin, today. :smokin

Led Zeppelin-How The West Was Won DVDA fr 2 concerts , in a too big arena or stadium back in 72. And yet ....Kevin Shirley and Jimi Page manage to put out a very good "Live" Surround recording .

Often wondered about that DVD or at least both of the SRV on Epic .So It's pretty good surround then ? Baggy ? :D:D
Mine looks like the back of a natural wood finish guitar. The surround isn't spectacular, but it is immersive. Keys, reverb and crowd in the rears, mostly. It is Dullby, but enjoyable, especially if you crank it. It is not mastered hot.

Since Stevie Ray was mentioned...I decided to dust this one off...impressive performance by an all star group...the surround is the normal concert mix...nothing special...but you buy discs like this for the performance...and it is impressive

I think the set you're referring to is this one which is a 3CD + 1DVD box set - the CD's are a combination of outtakes and stuff from his studio albums. I can understand the confusion, because the stuff on the DVD is from a 1989 Austin City Limits taping, but from my recollection it's either an entirely different (unaired) taping, or outtakes that don't appear on the standalone DVD...something along those lines.

In a little while i'll be watching/listening to disc 2 of the 2013 Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival Blu ray set.......not a bad 5.1 mix btw.

Djabe & Steve Hackett "Life Is A Journey". This is a really great album, a serene calmness in the music, and a good mix, quite a few interesting things happen with instruments moving, but in keeping with the music. The clarity of the sound is excellent. Its a shame we can't get affordable surround via headphones as this is a good early hours of the morning after the pub listen!

Adam did you have Tamas Barabas down on your list of Surround Mixers?
