You're having WAY too much fun! :SG:rocks

One of my VERY fav D~V Classical QUADS. Superb!:QQlove

Yep, it's a keeper! I love how the rear channels are actively involved and the commentary at the end is interesting...albeit short.

I zipped through the last patch of Quad SACDs from Dutton-Vocalion and was yearning for more. So, I checked out some local record shops and came upon a whole bunch at Tower. I picked up 6 more!!! LOL!!!

We're pretty lucky over here to have 2 good sized Tower Records in Tokyo. The one in your photo is near Shibuya station. Yesterday I went to the one near Shinjuku station. There is also an excellent used record/CD shop called Disc Union, which has various branches all around Tokyo.

Tower has a great selection of Dutton Vocalion's SACDs and CDs. I didn't see the latest batch of Quad SACDs yet. I ordered them from Dutton directly. The mail service is usually quick. I got Derringer, etc in about 10 days. But, there is something very satisfying about being able to go down to my local music shop and see a whole bunch of Quad SACDs sitting on the shelf...just waiting for me. I'll go back and pick up some of the Ray Conniff and Henry Mancini that I haven't got yet.

If anyone ever makes it this way, I definitely recommend a visit to both Tower and Disc Union. Great fun!!!

And don't think for a second that hulking 6'3" Indiana born/bred 'hoosier' BRETT [Lute] doesn't haggle with those diminutive Japanese salespeople....... yes, Mr. Brett....right away!

Actually, I was born in Wisconsin and later moved to the Hoosier state. But not so far apart, I guess... especially compared to where I am now. I've still got some Cheesehead in me, Ralphie. ;) Japan offers great service, but don't expect much haggling here. It's not for lack of trying, but they tend to go by the book over here.

You are WAAAYYYYY too much of a gentleman to haggle, Brett and Japan is hardly the place to do so. It must be wonderful [and wondrous in this day and age] to have TWO Tower Record Stores nearby. But I suppose it wouldn't be out of the question if things got desperate to trade 6 ears of corn and a hunk of Wisconsin Cheddar for 3 D~V QUAD SACDs!:QQlove

Throw in a case of Miller and you've got yourself a deal, Ralphie! :dance

You can bet your Pastrami On Rye that I've been enjoying Tokyo's music shops to the fullest!!:love:
Who knows how long these wondrous music stores will be here. I was glad to see a good crowd at both shops last weekend.

Now on to Cleveland and Lorin Maazel gettin' down with Richard Strauss's Ein Heldenleben.

What a fantastic Quad recording and remastering!! Dutton-Vocalion is the true HERO here!!! :)(y)

listening to now;

Others By Brothers / Scenes & Themes - Hugo Montenegro (MCh SACD).

wow Dutton Vocalion really nailed the Quad thing right out of the gates, we've had so many gems from them since they first went down the MultiCh path I'd forgotten how fabulous the surround sound is on this early release!
Others by Brothers is one of the 12 DV quad sacds I took delivery of last week, yet to unwrap and play it (and a few others) - been playing the Rick Derringer masterpieces over and over, now onto Yes, Relayer followed by Fragile... maybe the yes album next, so many surround sound choices... :51QQ:rocks:QQlove

Mancini, Henry - THE RETURN OF THE PINK PANTHER & SYMPHONIC SOUL (SACD)

Oh wow!!! Another trip down memory lane. As I listen, I can vividly see Christopher Plummer and Catherine Schell by the pool, and a wistful summer in Gstaad.

These Quad remasterings are truly the Greatest Gift. A gazillion thanks Dutton-Vocalion

You might have discussed this earlier, but is there a Dts-cd of this available for sale?

And a bit underwhelming musically.....but the surround mix is quite good indeed.
and by Bob Clearmountain on this DVDA 2 disc set.

Barenaked Ladies -Are Me.

One of the last DVDA'S to come from WEA, fwiw
I know what you mean. Good surround mixes on some of their albums. I want to like their music more but... as you say, I’m left feeling a bit underwhelmed too.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I had Maroon DVDA but it only had one great tune--or hit.,,, so sold it.

The album "Gordon " woulda been a better choice for surround I think.

I was searching for one after I saw an earlier post of yours. Looks interested. No worries. Thanks, though.;)
Also.....

I believe you can still purchase this quad encoded cd......at least a couple yrs back I saw it was being re-reissued. Being it's a quad encode only release, it should still be , I reckon.

My copy is on the French label Spalax...but I believe it's on a Euro friendly German label now.
