Decided to put on an old favourite tonight. Don’t play (or have many) DVD-Vs, but this one has always been special. Just got back from the east coast last week, I had gone to attend a committal service for my older brother who had passed in February. He had been battling ALS for many years, and once he had become wheel chair bound, music listening and tv watching was how he filled his days. With that in mind, I bought he and I both copies of this DVD years ago and I will forever think of him now when it plays :)
James Taylor - One Man Band on DVD-V in DD 5.1

Sorry for your loss Red:(

Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck: Organ Works Vol. 1 (SACD)

Harald Vogel (organ)

All this talk of organs and Sweelinck drew me to this one from the MDG label next. The swallow’s nest organ in St. Mary’s Church in Lemgo is another remarkable instrument.
Thanks for the response. Nice to see another organ buff :). Do you listen to organlive.com music station by any chance ?
Definitely nice to hear from another organ buff! :hi

There are so many wonderful organ recordings in surround. Sometimes I find myself listening to nothing else. Thanks for the link! That site is new to me. I look forward to exploring it. :)(y)

Listened to: Toto - IV

Listening to: Steven Wilson - To the Bone

As a huge prog fan and not much of a pop fan, Bone has taken longer for me to get into, but I think I'm slowly coming around to it.

Edit: Detonation really rocks near the end, but when the music first kicks in, to me it sounds an awful lot like Kansas - Fight Fire With Fire, which is actually pretty cool. The phone dialing sound also reminds me of The Matrix. :smokin

Mansun - Attack Of The Grey Lantern 5.1 DTS DVD... This showed up today (forgot I ordered it!)... good music... and a lackluster, almost non-existent surround experience. I won't be pre-ordering any more surround discs from the Mansun series.

I'm trying to push my expectations for this to the lowest possible level they can go, that way when I finally get mine and listen to it, maybe I'll be like "ya know, it's better than I expected!" and maybe I can enjoy it on some level and not feel physically ill over the $60 I spent on it

Anyway, listening to some Yes, The Yes Album, DVD-A (y)

Graham Nash - Songs for Beginners

Not a favorite of mine, but also, not one I have listened to very much. Mix and SQ is very good, just never been keen on GN's voice and songs, outside of the CSN(Y) stuff. For some reason though, and a few beers in, this is album is sitting quite well :)

It's always been weird to me that we have Graham Nash DTS CD, David Crosby DVD-audio, Graham Nash DVD-audio, Crosby and Nash DVD-audio, Neil Young DVD-audio... But not a single CSN or CSNY 5.1 release.

Feel much like you about Nash solos except I really like Wild Tales. Unfortunately, no surround although I did do an upmix several years ago. Looking for a disc, the digital version went bye-bye.

I have my height, rears and surrounds 2dB louder than calibration - I like a bit extra surround :smokin and all speaker pointing in direction of sweespot.

Killer mix... :LB
