A story. TLDR; an excellent adventure from my youth.
When I were much younger, but rock and roll and more to the point, friends existed, I and my friends had an excellent Saturday.
A bunch of us met at a public park near Brandon, FL that had a really cold spring named Lithia Springs. Add to that, many others we knew showed up, some with dates, some solo.
As the day progressed, somehow a large group of us had converged on a little Chevy Corvair (later indicted by Ralph Nader to be "unsafe at any speed") that a citizen from our town that we all knew had driven to the park... and I suspect more than a few of us were sporting bloodshot eyes and large pupils.
...I say this only as a side note, as I can't justify our actions.
But perhaps more importantly, the owner of the Corvair was known to have a Pioneer Super Tuner 8 track and some good speakers in the little devil. After a bit, someone shouted for me, and asked if I had a certain 8 track with me. Well, I was breathing wasn't I, so I said, "yes" and retrieved it.
Not real sure of the order of things after that, only that someone "opened" a door to the Corvair and inserted my tape in the deck, and finding no key was needed, proceeded to CRANK IT UP. I remember people sitting all over the body of the little
car... mostly a bunch of freaks, guys, you understand, some with really long hair or beards or both, but some of us really clean shaven-home on leave from the military. But there were ladies in the group as well, wives and dates and all.
I remember "old" folks driving by and this one old lady smiling at what must have been an amusing sight - to see us all jamming and grooving on this little car as it bounced up and down to the inhumane treatment to it's little suspension.

Now picture in your mind a train coming to a screaching halt, as the incredulous owner of the car and his date walked swiftly up and inquired just wth we were doing? None of us had bothered to consider or forsee how he would take to his car being burglarized, and being used as a stereo for the park! Suffice it say we all split up quickly with murmured, yet sincere apologies 'cause he was our friend after all, even though we had treated him badly, and I even managed to retrieve my tape before making a hasty retreat.
But by God did we have a good time.
I know, because I still remember this 45+ years later.
