JEAN-LUC PONTY - ENIGMATIC OCEAN
(LP->5.1 UDR)
*This old LP in my collection was begging for an Up-mix; really too bad it doesn't get the Royal treatment of someone like Steve Wilson in Atmos, it would be bonkers; especially the two long tracks "Enigmatic Ocean (Parts I-IV)" and "The Struggle Of The Turtle To The Sea (Parts I-III)."

I'm thinking my own Up-mix here could use some EQ tweaking to get the best out of it, but some fun stuff none the less.

This 1977 album also has some killer players on it, i.e.:
I hear a couple of influences on some of this from Frank Zappa (natch) and perhaps Alan Parsons.

-but if you have this album in some form, just try it out with whatever you have, a DSU, Surround Master, other up-mixing software etc, etc.

Please do, this was my introduction to Maestro Ponty’s oeuvre and he signed it for me In 2017 when I met him. This is his absolute best album.

I had a feeling this album--Dirty Projectors, Lamp Lit Prose--would sound fantastic through the Dolby Surround Upmixer, and lo and behold, it does (5.1.4, center spread on):

I'd rather hear it in real Atmos than faux-Atmos, though. I know Dave Longstreth is an accomplished DIY sound engineer, and I also know Domino has been getting into Atmos. So what are we waiting for?

I'm working my way through their whole catalogue... Have done Queen II, Sheer heart attack, A day at the races, Flash Gordon, The works, The miracle, Innuendo and Made in heaven so far - all stem separated and re-up mixed to 5.1.4
The Fairy Feller's Masterstroke. lol. Title always got me. First Queen album (II) I think I heard. Used to have it many moons ago. Thinking on it that was back in Budgie days.

Rickie Lee Jones – Flying Cowboys

another one-off I'm revisiting today, with some improved DeMix Pro to the vocals etc.

This fine AF 24k Gold HDCD album was produced by- Walter Becker; CD mastering by- Kevin Gray; Mixed by- Greg Penny, Roger Nichols; and is one of the best sounding CDs you may ever hear (IMO) with fantastic DRs. This up-mixed song settled on a DR average of 20.
