Dutton-Vocalion has released a few UMG-controlled quads on SACD, including Donald Byrd's Black Byrd and Street Lady.

Someone on the Hoffman list wrote about an upcoming Ziggy Stardust blu-ray that has new Dolby Atmos and stereo remixes that are not part of the Rock And Roll Star set. Makes me wonder....a well done box of Mick Ronson era David Bowie in surround would be 'mind blowing'. The Man Who Sold The World, Hunky Dory, The Rise And Fall of Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane and Pin Ups would make a great set.

First of all, if there is a stand-alone Ziggy coming with an Atmos mix, I will cancel my order for the box!
Secondly, if a collection of classic Bowie lps mixed in surround becomes a reality, someone would have to pick me up off the floor, because I would undoubtedly pass out!!!

The Aerosmith catalog is owned by Sony. So Rhino would not have access to those albums.

Best hope for Aerosmith would be one of those Japanese 7" SACD packages like the Santana titles.

Actually the Aerosmith catalog is now owned by UMG and is available on Capitol

(as an example I bought the Doobies set despite having all the albums on SACD. For me, after listening to the ho-hum sound in stereo, it was a waste of money).

But the Quad versions are hardly Ho-Hum!

The most "Quatmos" mixes I have heard, are the two Glen Campbell's Atmos mixes. They have the quad feel, although they use more than four channels. They are really great and unique.

If not Carly, maybe David Gates and Bread? That would be four albums, unless there is a fifth "Best of Bread Vol Two". That would be truly mind blowing hearing "Guitar Man" and "Sweet Surrender" in Quad!

Listening to my CD-4 rip of "David Gates", it's every bit as good as the Bread releases!

My two cents....

It's probably Carly Simon. But, I hate to say it.... that wouldn't blow my mind.

The optimist in me is hoping for the Eagles. Maybe if Hell Freezes over.....

A Carly set would be “mind blowing” only for a very few of her most diehard fans. I hope FR didn’t waste such a tantalizing superlative on that. Especially since the possibility of such a set has been suggested many many times for years and years around here.

I’m holding out for something Rhino just picked up the rights to that we wouldn’t have expected them to have or was recently discovered in the vault that was unreleased back in the day.

Or maybe something they’ve decided to newly mix to quad rather than Atmos?

“Mind-blowing” would be the two Eagles albums on quad along with new quad mixes of their first two albums.
