Video trailer for the box set. Looks amazing! :)

I'd like to give warm thanks to this forum for pointing out that a single DVD exists, I've just preordered it, hoping it will be good enough (I'm not a strict audiophile so any *very* good DD mix will do).

This is the only place where I've read anything about this DVD option. Elsewhere there is nothing but the expensive boxset.

Preordered the 5.1 DVD today, I suspect a stand alone Blu Ray will occur in the next 17 months and 34 days.

Just as you said earlier, there is no "historic precedent" for them to do a separate Blu-Ray release so I went ahead and preordered the set.
I may be able to knock down the price by selling off some old Blu-Rays that I don't watch anymore to amazon in exchange for some gift card money.

This is such an amazing record that I at least had to preorder it. I wasn't able to take that leap of faith for the Soundgarden set (at that price) until I know what the mix sounds like.

standalone Division Bell 5.1 Mix DVD up for pre-order. I assume it's DTS 5.1 but ...

I applaud the availability of the 5.1 separately. Just wish to know the content, does it have the new video and more importantly, what audio tracks? My guess now is that it will be, just as they say, only the 5.1 mix (in dolby digital). I'll wait a couple of weeks to see what information comes up.
And yes, this will be again one of those albums I'll be buying another copy of (and never play the CD anymore).

"And yes, this will be again one of those albums I'll be buying another copy of (and never play the CD anymore)."

Exactly! So why would I also want vinyl that I wouldn't play either - and even more vinyl with abreviated (stereo) versions of the music that I would not play? Happily bought only the 5.1 DVD which I will play and play.

Actually I was talking about no historical precedent for including a DTS track. It's been 448 or 640 Dolby Digital in the past.

Oh I know. I was "adapting" that quote to say that based on the fact that the "Dark Side" and "Wish You Were Here" Blu-Rays have remained box set exclusives, I would expect that to also remain true for "The Division Bell" Blu-Ray.

But it's still cool that a standalone DVD is being released. I will be pleasantly surprised if it included DTS.

However, the other box sets weren't full of vinyl and had lots of audio extras (and silly marbles and scarves) so I didn't mind buying them.

That's great news, I'll be eagerly waiting for your feedback on the DVD. If it's DTS 96/24 most likely I will cancel my order for the big box and fallback to the DVD
