Actually I was talking about no historical precedent for including a DTS track. It's been 448 or 640 Dolby Digital in the past.
Wait a minute, I remember the On an Island DVD had DTS (although boxed and sparsely authored).

That wasn't Pink Floyd although David Gilmour probably signed off both releases so that's some hope for DTS on the Division Bell DVD I guess.

Someone on another forum emailed PinkFloyd.com and asked about the 5.1 format and got a reply that it was the same mix as on the Blu-ray. Not helpful at all....

False alarm folks. My package just arrived and it was the T-shirt and coasters. No part of the lp bundle included. :(

I can tell you that the coasters are cork with artwork sticker applied. Nothing fancy. T-shirt is just like the picture with album art on the front and nothing on the back.

The e-mail they sent listed all items as shipped.

Sorry for the mix up.

Most likely everyone has received the same email message that I just did stating that ".......the DVD has been postponed 2-3 weeks due to manufacturing delays." Hopefully it wasn't just mine! John

Through trading in some items to get some amazon gift card money, I was able to drop my price on the box set to around $90. I'm trying to drop the price further, but nothing else really to sell at this point...

I received the the e-mail too. Great, another delayed preorder. You would think that after all these years of making discs they would have a handle on how long it takes to get them made. With all the things in that package, the DVD was the one thing they couldn't get out on time???

At least my copy of A Passion Play should help to pass the time until TDB ships, unless it gets delayed too...

I don't see why they couldn't have simply released the Blu Ray on it's own. Could have just pressed more copies and we'd all be fine right away. Oh well...

Totally agree with you but they must make quite a bit from us suckers who buy all these boxsets in the past that they don't have the Bluray seperate, the fact that they have a dvd seperate already for preorder gives me a bit of hope so I am waiting to see what happens.

Just cancelled my DVD order.

Amazon's £99.99 price for the BIG box I can JUST ABOUT stomach. Still a lot for a Blu-Ray, but I REALLY want that Blu-Ray!

I just can't see them selling it on it's own, and I know that if I'd bought the Deluxe Edition for the vinyl, I wouldn't sell the Blu-Ray.

If the Blu-Ray DOES go on sale on it's own, I will be VERY ANNOYED!!!!!!!!!!

I'm waiting to hear more about the DVD standalone in 5.1. I suspect it will not be DTS and will be Dolby Digital, but at the current price it's too cheap to pass up HERE If the blu ray ends up being excellent I will jump on it too. Division Bell isn't one of my favorites.

Given that David Gilmour's "On an Island" had a dts option, I have hope that this release will also have dts. Of course, there's no guarantee.

It is just heartbreaking that they bury what I want with what I don't need and charge more than I reasonably can afford.
Do they do it to us 5.1 fans on purpose? All it would take is one more package breakout like Acoustic Sounds got with WYWH.

It has been a great month for 5.1 releases but man the prices are killing me.

My feeling has been that the record companies, along with just being mostly greedy about providing surround content, seem to show a contempt for the surround listener. They bait you with the item in the box that you really want, and like you said, they bury it with what you don't need and charge more than you can afford. One of the worst examples I've seen is the recent handling of the Brain Salad Surgery reissue. Instead of just following the example of the previous two 3-disc editions, they deliberately made a two-channel DVD-A for the BSS 3-disc package thereby depriving everyone of the 5.1 disc who couldn't/wouldn't buy the deluxe box. So, if you're someone who wants the 5.1 DVD-A in those packages, what other conclusion can you really come to?

Oh I know. I was "adapting" that quote to say that based on the fact that the "Dark Side" and "Wish You Were Here" Blu-Rays have remained box set exclusives, I would expect that to also remain true for "The Division Bell" Blu-Ray.

But it's still cool that a standalone DVD is being released. I will be pleasantly surprised if it included DTS.

Since Gilmour's On An Island got a DTS treatment, then that should've set the precedent right there...

Here's what $10 gets you in a high quality wood coaster set. They also had the DVD value at $10 on my order receipt so I'm not expecting to be blown away with the quality of content. I just hope it is good enough to offset purchasing an LP I have no way of playing, coasters that would probably be ruined if I used them, and a T-shirt I might wear once or twice. If the DVD has DD only, it better be a killer mix.

If not I'll take the shirt somewhere and have put on the back "I bought this set and all I have to show for it is this stinkin' T-shirt"

When you ordered this set weren't you aware of this but think of it this way, you are probably the first in your neighborhood with THOSE coasters:banana: just saying, stay positive. I feel your pain as I've bought these deluxe sets to just get the surround mix several times.
