Cement is fine if you get the expansion joints cut right, and enough of them. It will always crack, but you want to show it where you want it to crack. A good base pounded into submission with a jumping jack tamper, 4000 psi mix, some metal mesh, some #4 rebar around the edge and some fiber-mesh in the concrete should cover parking that big 4 wheeler and 40ft RV you want in retirement!
my cement guy gives me a guarantee on everything he pours
The guarantee is a one line statement - " Guaranteed to Crack "

1) Drive 80 ft piles (or longer) ten feet on center.
2) Pour the pile caps of 5000 psi reinforced concrete
3) Pour the driveway itself with 5000 psi reinforced concrete slab at least 24" thick, #10 rebar, 6" on center on top and bottom
4) Enjoy watching cracks form anyway despite all of the above
5) Put on Motor Head at maximum volume
6) Primal scream
5) Pave on top of the concrete with asphalt

When one looks deeper and deeper into the metric system, one realizes that it is truly a thing of beauty.
Until you have to actually USE it on the job.

- People don't come in metric sizes. Most of the parts of buildings are even numbers of feet.
- US cooking measures are based on the size of an egg. Nobody makes metric-sized eggs.
- US cooking measures are also designed to easily double or halve a recipe.
- You need a calculator for metric to do the calculations you can do in your head in US measures.
- There are still multiple metric units of measure in pressure, heat, energy, temperature, and mass.

Too late for us in the USA to change to SI. Too much history...

IMO, there's nothing wrong with preserving the dirt road which is what Ricko's ancestors would have traversed on their way to the Promised Land!

Ralphie....that picture has historical significance. this was the beginning of what would become NASCAR. The front wagon is the PACE CAR. That is where the term HORSEPOWER originated. :dance
