I went over to my local Best Buy today to look at a PrePro I was thinking of upgrading to. I’ve been using my Denon AVR-X4400H for the past few years and don’t use the amp section other than to power my Dolby Atmos / Auro 3D height speakers.

My first stop was the Apple area to look at iPads. Very knowledgeable and friendly gentleman. We mostly discussed the new Best Buy membership in the 10 minutes that I spent in that section.

Next stop was the Home Theater and Audio section. They have three demo rooms of equipment and a small section outside those rooms with Audioquest cables, various speakers and scratch & dent products for sale. In particular, I was looking for the highly rated Marantz AV10 but didn’t see it on display. A sales person asked me if I needed any help and I suggested that I’d like to hear both the Kef LS50 Meta (passive) and LS60 Wireless (active) speakers that were side by side. as I was listening to each speaker pair with him flipping back and forth, I made a comment about how the midrange seems to bloom on the LS50 over the LS60. He said to me it was because the LS60 doesn’t have the Meta technology. It was one of those moments where the customer seemed to know more than the sales person. I tried to assure him that they both use the latest Meta technology and that it was, most likely, the size difference between the midrage driver in the LS60 vs the midbass driver in the LS50. He insisted that it wasn’t the case. So, I said, okay and walked away. Both speakers sounded good in their respective ways but I walked away thinking how small speakers cannot compete with the bigger speaker models. Also, I was surprised how tiny the LS60 Wireless speakers were. The great thing on both LS50 and LS60 is that they are built like a tank. No hollow sound whatsoever when performing the knuckle rap test on the speaker enclosures.

Not a very good setup for listening.

That is, Clinty, until I read that eating a HOT DOG shaves a full 35 minutes off one's life expectancy! And smothered in diced onions and yellow mustard, those all beef DOGS were delectable ......but now I switched my allegiance to Costco's CHICKEN BAKE which does cost more but will no doubt be a more healthy alternative! But NO free drink nor refill ....OH well, you can't have EVERYTHING!

But being a true Renaissance Man my undying mantra is: NEVER PAY RETAIL!
Damn. I spend more than 35 mins at stop lights driving around daily. And not as tasty. Make mine a Polish Dog!

Extra toppings please.

This is as random (and bizarre) as I can get for today:

I would love to hear any comments from our UK QQ members about this!
............... once I can get rid of the mud :ROFLMAO:

As bog is also slang for toilet I'm glad they showed a picture!

You think that is weird, not far from where I live there is a Stinging Nettle eating competition Nettle eating competition returns to cider farm but as I'm originally from Scotland I'm inclined to think its just an English thing :ROFLMAO:

I wish I could convince people over at /r/budgetaudiophile on Reddit. Bookshelf speakers + a subwoofer is constantly the recommendation over there.

Well speaking of random...we may have a category 3 hurricane hitting our area.
Depending on likely landfall area as it gets closer, we might have to DD out. Today I'll be filling the gas cans for the generator and getting it tuned up, and securing things outside. Filling the car with gas.
I've ridden out many hurricanes but don't think I want to tackle a cat 3 at this point in my life.
So...may have to pack up, grab the dogs and hit the road. We'll see.
Sucks.

Wondering if I ought to pull all the hard drives out of the main rig and pack them up, since they have all my surround titles ripped to digital.

I didn't even know what Nettle's are until your post. It looks at least as tasty as Scottish thistle.

It seems I keep runnung in to wacky stuff from across the water. In today's New Tricks episode the UCOS team were randomly puling suggestions out of a hat that they could do for social activity. The last one sounded like "ride a pity bus" which made no sense to me. Last scene was the crew riding on what looked like rolling platform where everyone sits around a table & each person has peddles under them & one person steers.

Turns out it's a real thing, and the thing is called "Pedibus":

It looks both insanely fun & dangerous to me. Routes in a busy city like London with winding & hilly roads must be chosen carefully. No seat belts.

We have stinging nettles in Florida. I never wore shoes much as a boy and despised those things.
For the pedibus thingie, I've seen those in New Orleans I think, on tv in the Bahama's as well.

Just what most cities need, a slow moving blob of people on a lumbering vehicle going 30 mph slower than the traffic around it.
And it looks like one of them have a beer. Technically drinking and driving (they can charge you with DUI if you are on a bicycle, I doubt this would be looked at any differently). Also gives a whole new dynamic to "falling off the wagon".
