We have had and are having some rather strong winds down here on the coast of SW England (I'm about 500m from the sea). This morning I saw that the all weather frame & cover for my Vegetable Trugg raised bed had come almost off, I could see the bent metal tubing entwined with the cover, when I looked out a few minutes later it was no where to be seen! not even in the neighbours gardens!!
It was found hidden between a neighbours shed and a hedge, cover is OK, but useless though, as the inserted metal tubing and plastic joins are kaput! I'll have to get another frame

That sucks. (out of stock I mean) Get some 2x2 square tubing with 1/4" walls. It won't go anywhere. Overkill!!! J/K.
I built a lot of "stuff" out of square tubing when I worked in the shop. Love the stuff. Though 1/8" wall thickness is pretty strong.
My only concern would be how many fingers I'd have left after attempting fabrication! My woodwork teacher at school said I was a "woodwork butcher", never found out what the metalwork teacher said :ROFLMAO:

Yes. I'd suggest professional help. lol. A good metal shop should be able to construct a lightweight frame. Better yet: Also there are many fittings available to use with round metal conduit, and a conduit bender is not expensive.
I worked in a welding/machine shop for years and constructed many things, but there's a lot of solutions these days for DIY that don't take an inordinate amount of skill or money. YouTube is your friend.
Anyway, hope you get it all fixed up.
Wind is a b*tch. Ask me how I know. lol.

Hope you got the propane tank & Generac filled up. Another reason you should have listned to me... about having a tunnel (so cool) between house and barn.

I would have loved the tunnel but there is quite an elevation change from the house to the barn. Not feasible. And certainly not fiscally feasible either

Ricky couldn't stay retired. Now he's in the public service sector. :)

Well the wind isn't much, until it starts blowing that foot of snow around. Sheesh. Hang in there.

There is, or was, a US military base in Greenland. When I was in AIT, guy who had been stationed there told me they had guiderails/ropes between buildings so one could navigate under extreme weather, and that the main road in had "survival stations" every few hundred meters in case your vehicle broke down/got stuck or whatever. I assume these would all have been military vehicles.
Not a place I'd want to be. Only seen Greenland from 30,000 feet 5 or 6 times. (and on TV shows featuring prospectors) . The North Atlantic had waves and whitecaps so big you could see them from altitude.

What? You don't have a shovel?
J/K of course.
I remember a farm from...IDK somewhere where they had a hand dug tunnel from house to livestock barn from many many years ago.

Listen to Sonic, Ricky. He builds fancy contraptions and knows about stuff like this. Besides, his football team obviously is versed in the dark arts.

Is there anyone else as pleased with the USPS as I am?

Franck Martin's album tracks to the regional hub 6 days ago, and is "in transit" to the next destination, which is roughly 100 miles.
I've had packages dumped in the driveway near the highway (about 100 yards from the house).
I've had packages dumped in the yard, when I have a sign up that says all deliveries welcome at the side door (steps, landing). I especially love this when it's raining.
Packages have been leaned against the door, so that when you open the door, the package goes tumbling down the concrete steps.

Seems like a different person delivers packages every time. I used to have a carrier for years, that utilizing common sense, would put packages in my old truck when it was raining.

What's up with delivering after dark? Can't they hire enough people? What few times I get to actually speak with a carrier they complain about being overworked. How freaking hard is it to deliver packages, I mean it's not like they are on horseback. One lady said "oh honey, you wouldn't want my job". This was right after I rebuilt my fish pond and moved about a ton of rock by myself.
I'm thinking, yeah I would have loved to have your job back in the day.

A friend in Idaho who went to the post office to complain that packages were NEVER delivered, just a notice left to go to the post office in town, was actually told by a person working at the post office that "they did not get paid to deliver packages, only mail". (which is a lie) I mean are people getting that sorry, or has the USPS just gone totally to $hit?
