I got extreme whiplash today.
Decided to pop into a Barnes & Noble. Haven't been in one since 2018.
Half the store wasn't books. That was expected.
They had an entire wall dedicated to Blu-rays from the Criterion Collection. What the hell? I thought this was a bookstore. Majority of the people going here are surprisingly kids. So, that begs the question: which kids are buying Criterion Blu-rays?
There are massive anime and manga sections. That wasn't there before. I guess that's the mainstream?
All the young girls sipping Starbucks in the store were buying massively overpriced K-Pop CDs. ($60 USD for 5 songs? Really?)
I felt like I got punched in the face when I saw all those Pink Floyd CDs without surround. Actually, why were there so many CDs? That was weird.
Felt like I got punched in the face again when I saw a brand-new Roy Orbison DVD-A sitting on the shelf like it was 2005.
I didn't pick it up but maybe I should have. Or at least taken a photo.
Unfortunately that one high-res title sitting there is likely a fluke. How did it even get there? Felt like I was hallucinating. DVD-A Super Jewel Case and everything.
