I've probably listened to A Love Supreme more than any other album. Still an absolutely transcendent experience. This Acoustic Sounds Series pressing sounds marvelous
This one was an impulse purchase! The cover caught my eye and then i recollected digging I Love You, Honeybear–a student used to bump it through my classroom stereo! I'm enjoying this one . . . may have to get Honeybear, too!
It was the early 90s when i started buying CDs. I moved my turntable to school and started spinning for students. My CD collection grew rapidly, and i relegated the albums to the basement. Had over 1K. Never thought i'd go back "to the dark side"! When my daughter moved out, i gave her over 100 albums, music she enjoyed and music i hoped she would grow to LOVE. It wasn't until i started going down there the last few weeks that i remembered giving my goddaughter several hundred albums one Christmas. I was over at my former wife's house visiting my daughter and her cousins on her mom's side, one of whom is my goddaughter. Well, she and i got to talking music, and i told her i had lots of albums by the groups she liked. Her eyes lit up. I told her to sit tight, and her dad and i drove the few blocks to my place and started pulling albums . . . and drinking and smoking! Thoroughly toasted, i brought my goddaughter back a HUGE cache (including all my Beatles [yup, i had that mono Revolver among other 1960s pressings!] and Stones [yup, more mono pressings and a working zipper Sticky Fingers]). My goddaughter's eyes got HUGE and then she teared up! Ultimately, i'm glad she has them, but it was weird not being able to find them . . . until i remembered that alcohol- and drug-soaked Christmas day i gave them all away! Ah, the basement! Stay Surrounded, Comrade!
I know Lonerism–another student recommendation from back in the day! Just checked on Currents at DeepDiscount: Backordered! My bank account heaved a sigh of relief! Thanks for the recommendation and Stay Surrounded, Comrade!
Ooooooh...... A major hole filled on my vinyl wish list. This is the first Italian pressing of the single. The record company screwed up by not only putting the wrong song on the b-side, but they used a different version. The b-side should be "One of My Turns" but it plays "Young Lust". And it's a very different mix of "Young Lust".
Here it is on YouTube. Can you spot all the differences?
