Hmmmm...they transmit sound waves back into your table, which in turn makes the vinyl play back have a slight muddiness to it.
I'm the street? I'm a four lane highway!Word on the street, says don’t use dust cover while spinning!!
If you tap on your plinth can you hear it through the speakers?Hmmmm...
from my VERY limited scientific knowledge, the only vibrations that would emanate would be from the stylus and those are VERY high and their wavelength would be way too short to fit within the enclosed space, granted, we could include their subharmonics but still...
but then, that would make my SL-QL1 a mess regarding muddiness...
..is the plinth the base?If you tap on your plinth can you hear it through the speakers?
The plinth is the "body" of the table, the box on which the arm and platter are mounted. Not sure if that's what you meant by "base" or if you meant the shelf it sits on...is the plinth the base?
if so, not really, it is very well isolated...

Cool. Mine makes a distinct thud when I tap on it, but I always knew that was the weak link on a strong table. What are you playing your records on?Yes, it is...Base...body..toemaytoe , toemahtoe
mine is a heavy, man, heavy TT..24(?) lbs...Cool. Mine makes a distinct thud when I tap on it, but I always knew that was the weak link on a strong table. What are you playing your records on?
The QL-A7 is pretty heavy as well though I can't find an exact spec. The motor weighs a ton but the plinth is where they saved a few bucks. It's just basic pressboard.mine is a heavy, man, heavy TT..24(?) lbs...
