Keith Jarrett improvising on the pipe organ at the Imperial Abbey of Ottobeuren, Germany, 1976.
You'd think they'd put a picture on the cover though! The organ & room are spectacular:
If they used more than 2 mics, this would be a good candidate for a surround mix. IMO pipe organs don't sound nearly as impressive in stereo, compared to surround. Example: side 2 of Wakeman's "six wives" is fantastic in surround, you really get the immense, immersive sound of the chamber compared to a flat stereo presentation.
Nonetheless cranked up this sounds good.
Funny: one of these tracks was also used in Friedkin's "Sorcerer" film, another soundtrack and movie I like. ( Tangerine Dream did most of it ).
I bought SO much vinyl recently; i'm trying to listen to each slab after running it through my ultrasonic cleaner. Man, the jazz sounds GREAT through the Surround Master! I was lucky to find this European Record Store Day release in St. Paul, Minnesota!
