I joined a vinyl club to get a discount on some vinyl. Fine print says they send you their choice of vinyl every few weeks.......I canceled

So I present something I would have never bought😅

This is really good. Recorded at Trident in 1970: fantastic sonics & mix. A new clean quiet pressing too.

I was hearing what I assumed was lots of inspiration from Miles' "silent way" "bitches brew" & even King Crimson's mellower free jazz stuff from their 1st album. But after looking into it, apparently these guys hadn't heard any of that Miles' material before recording.

Must have been "something in the air" to quote Jorah Mormont.

Really digging the drums & guitar, will have to track down other material they did. Looks like they played on a Jack Bruce album together.

If I had heard of Jimmy Smith before this month, I don’t remember. But after enjoying the Acoustic Sounds Verve release of Lightnin’ Strikes, I went looking for others in the series. Can’t say a lot of the titles grabbed me, but I streamed a bit of this one and decided to get the vinyl.
