You are the Quad man in my book. I trust that whatever is released I'll be very happy to purchase. I appreciate you letting me know why certain titles are unlikely to be released.

He is more than the Quad Man...he's the Multichannel Maven...just look on the back cover of the most recent AF multichannel releases..Collins or Cooper...you will see his name:banana:

Now if we could ONLY pick bmoura's brain and see what's in store from Audio Fidelity (in QUAD and 5.1) for 2016, we'd be one step ahead of the game......but I suppose the element of surprise does have its own rewards. It seems security surrounding these releases is reminiscent of the CIA/FBI and Interpol COMBINED.

Wonder if bmoura drives an Aston Martin?

if we were to pick his brain to find out upcoming releases, he'd have to wear that football helmet lined with tinfoil to keep the alien brain probes out. lol

Thanks. There's more interesting Multichannel SACDs in the development stage for 2016.
Some fine Surround Sound SACD listening ahead.

If they release Billion dollar babies Quad SACD all is forgiven, I'll even wave my replacement copy of this album, so AF let's get to it.

YOu are speaking my language....BDB on Quad would just be excellent..... WOW!!!

They already released a stereo-SACD of "Billion Dollar Babies" a few years ago, so I would much rather Audio Fidelity concentrate on titles that they have not released on SACD before, and we all know there's lots of choices out there! :)

Rtbluray is correct.
While Audio Fidelity will consider titles they have issued before, the emphasis is going to be on titles they have not released before on 24K CD and SACD.

AF has done a great job of picking these quad sacd's. I'll just let marshall keep picking them and I'll be happily surprised.

Wouldn't that be an easy one to do? If they already have the stereo layer in the can (so to speak), All they'd have to do is remaster the 4-channel version and pop it out. Really, if they've done one in Quad, they should do the other so that we (the consumers) have the full set. I know I'd buy it.

It's a lot more than that. It's getting a license to release the Quad mix and possibly getting a new license to reissue the stereo mix if the license is already expired. Plus, there's the new mastering costs for the Quad mixes and the manufacturing costs for pressing the SACD again but this time with the additional mix.
AND it may not sell as well the 2nd time around if the stereo SACD crowd already has their SACD of this title and doesn't feel the need to buy another one.

All in all, I think Audio Fidelity are wise to release other titles in the meantime until there becomes more of a demand to reissue BDB yet again on SACD. Plus there will always be some who would prefer they reissue the 5.1 mix on the SACD instead of the Quad mix anyway.

A Multichannel SACD - or a Hybrid Stereo SACD - release of Billion Dollar Babies would require a new licensing agreement and a new guaranteed payment by Audio Fidelity.
It would not come under the Stereo CD license.

I know, and that is why it is so likely possible with this title. Not many titles can meet those tough requirements. I am glad that this one can.

In fact these tiny road bumps are nothing compared to real problems that so often happen when trying to secure a quad release of a vintage title. I don't believe that AF would turn their backs on us Q fans and release it without this so desirable and rare mix. A great one with no Q4 reel issued. An SACD repress release without that 4.0 layer would be a big white elephant in the room now at this point.

I think it's high time that Audio Fidelity pays tribute to the Divine (and I mean DIVINE) Miss M http://eil.com/images/main/Bette+Midler+-+The+Divine+Miss+M+-+Quadraphonic+-+LP+RECORD-371161.jpg

I have this album on Quad Open Reel and believe me, IT ROCKS and is VERY discrete and would make a fine addition to AF's QUAD SACD reissue program.

Anyone else agree?

Saw this album performed live years ago and it was brilliant especially with Barry Manilow on piano (and arranger, as well) and Melissa Manchester doing backing vocals. SUPERB!

YES Ralph!!! :upthumb Its funny you should mention it as I was playing it only the other day, fantastic in every respect, musically, mix wise and fidelity!
It would be a great one for AF to release on Surround SACD imho! :wave

Will tell 'em Ralph sent me..! Also, I can tell you that the two Chase Quads (mixed by two entirely different mixing engineers back in the day afaik, yet both hugely entertaining mixes that engage the senses throughout) even decode very well through the Surround Master they are such active mixes with so much going on.. so to hear them discrete from the Quad master tapes must be quite the thrill.. fingers crossed some label somewhere gets them both out on Surround SACD soon..!!!

So, Adam, let's cut to the Chase and petition Audio Fidelity to release them......AF seems to be on a roll with Columbia QUAD titles at the moment.

Let's! If they get them out within the first quarter of the new year they'll be on a Spring roll.. :ugham:

Adam, I just emailed Marshall Blonstein @ Audio Fidelity and petitioned him to release The Divine Miss M and the two Chase Quads......perhaps we'll have them in time for the Summer Solstice:sun

Dear Adam, be a "sport" and do likewise: https://audiofidelity.net/contact-us
