This may have been discussed already, but I've just learned that there was a Q8 of Creedence Clearwater Revival ‎– Creedence Gold. I think this would be a great title that AF could do as a Quad SACD as it may be the only title that Analogue Productions does not have the rights to (I could be wrong though). Seeing how the SACD comps by The Doors and The Guess Who have sold, maybe this could sell as well.

If they did reissue that one as a Multichannel SACD, it would be mostly for the content and not for its stellar surround mix, which it apparently doesn't have.

Its not the greatest Quad of all time but if you want to hear something from it to get a flavour of the mix let me know

Considering AF's history of working with Steve Hoffman, and SH's history of working with CCR, this looks like a good fit.

This is what I thought but the Quad mixes might not actually be worth the effort from what I hear.

With the sudden passing of Paul Kantner, maybe it's time to celebrate his music by releasing some Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship on QUAD SACD.

"Volunteers" could be a possible release but "The Worst of Jefferson Airplane" would be the game-changer on the Airplane front.
Then there's "Dragon Fly", "Red Octopus", and "Spitfire" on the Starship front.

If Audio Fidelity can get ahold of any of these (particularly "Worst"), Godspeed! :)

I agree 110% with starting with "The Worst of Jefferson Airplane". That would be another great selling comp for AF. :) Take my money NOW!

Just personal opinion, but the quad mixes on 'Worst Of' Jefferson Airplane are amongst the 'worst of' the quad format - I'd listen to the Best Of The Guess Who 10 times in a row before I'd listen to the Jefferson Airplane comp. There just aren't enough elements on those 60's multitracks (were they even using 8 tracks by that point?) to make good surround mixes - I haven't listened to Worst Of in a while but it reminded me of some of the worst aspects of some other 60's quad mixes, namely the sludgy sonics of the Guess Who Best Of and the random mono instruments coming out of everywhere-ness of the Sly & The Family Stone Greatest Hits albums.

The Jefferson Starship mixes on the other hand are very strong - I don't particularly love all their albums, but Dragon Fly is one that I would definitely buy.

Thanks for that. There aren't currently any reviews on the Quad release of "Worst" in its poll thread so I welcome lots of opinions on what it is and isn't when it comes to its Quadraphonic mix and fidelity. :)

Freedom at Point Zero

Best Jefferson Air or Star ever!!!! :friday:

You aint got it?? Better get it ! it Awesome!!

I'd like to see "Dragon Fly" and "Red Octopus" become the first "two-fer" on AF's 4.0 series if they fit. Just like RCA used to advertise, Two full albums on one stereo cartridge!!!

Or a mini box set of Dragon Fly, Spitfire and Red Octopus on 3 separate SACDs. Those are the three I have on QUAD dolby~b encoded Open Reel.

I don't think (but never say never) that AF would go for a two~fer due to licensing agreements, et alia.

The 2 eared boys over at MOFI seem to have a current arrangement for Volunteers. It's an upcoming stereo SACD, and vinyl, if you're into that. They also have an upcoming mono SACD of Surrealistic Pillow (buying this one for sure).

Especially for people with just one ear hà :ugham:, not trying to piss you off here, just reacting to people saying they have only two ears :couch.

Drat! Oh well, another one bites the dust, as they say…
Guess it may be now or never for Audio Fidelity to jump on the Starship Quad releases before MOFI take those out too...

I remember enjoying 2 of the Starships Quad disc.

On a side note Marty Balin opened an art gallery here in St Augustine, Fl. I haven't been to it and don't know if it is still here.

RIP Paul Kanter.
