Would love to get more info on the Atmos mix. I have a copy of the box on hold at my local brick-and-mortar, but I'm buying primarily for the surround mix. Given all the other purchases I've made recently, I'd be happy to save some cash if the surround is truly disappointing.

I don't have the disc yet as it's in transit. Listened to Jailbreak and Emerald on Apple Music, two of my favorite Thin Lizzy songs, and the mix is better than I feared. Not very good but quite alright, with all channels used and good use of the heights on several occasions. :) Looking forward to receiving the disc.

It’s not the worst atmos or surround you’ll ever hear, but it’s far from the best, as Bobby Martini says it’s worth having as it’s the best these albums have ever sounded
Thanks for the additional info. Still on the fence, as I have spent a ton of cash on music lately and, while I enjoy Thin Lizzy and these particular albums, they are far from my favorite band. Then again, maybe this box will change that!

Wish I hadn't bought this now, given the middling reports. These SDE.Com discs are far from cheap. :(
Keep it sealed and sell it, plenty will take it off your hands, you might even make a profit but bear in mind this costs the same as two cd’s and this sounds far superior to the cd’s

I meant to say:
Being a member of QQ and reading comments, can be a huge mind ****. Trust your gut and if you like the band listen and judge for yourself.
Lots of people on QQ think it is cool to say what is wrong with a release than what is right.

Can someone confirm that the Blu-Ray in the box also has a dedicated 5.1 mix? The tracklisting on the back only lists Atmos and stereo, but there is a DTS-HD symbol at the bottom so it’s not entirely clear.

Side comment. I've been listening a lot to Wishbone Ash recently - including one of their best ever albums, There's The Rub. I know Ash sorta pioneered the two guitar thing that Lizzy followed up on. And I wonder how much the Lizzy sound (not the lyrics) owed to a particular track on that album: "Don't Look Back". Have a listen and see what you think - isn't the cascading rifferage quite Lizzy sounding, especially as the track comes to its brilliant close? (I'm comparing to the soloing/joint guitar harmony on Emerald, especially...)

If I'm being honest, I would (almost) rather have an OK but still half-decent surround mix of an album I really like, rather than an incredible mix of music I don't care for. Unless the mix is just terribly bungled and it ruins a good album, which really annoys me. Not all mixers are on the level of SW, though many could learn from his work.
