Any must-have surround recordings on the Chandos sale before everything goes away? I'm not the biggest classical listener and only know the major composers/pieces, but happy to hear any recommendations.

I'm curious about the Shostakovich, though I did see that Hurwitz pan, which makes me a little hesitant to blindly buy them.

So I pulled the trigger on a couple albums, but I didn't get any confirmation emails from Chandos (and I checked the spam folder). Has anyone ordered from Chandos and gotten an order confirmation email?

I ask because I'm having trouble downloading one of the albums (it says it's not available, which is weird).

I don't remember about confirmation emails (or see any). Are you seeing anything like then when you log in?

I also did not receive emails, but my orders and downloads all show up like this as well. It is a little complex in that downloads that are high res or 5.1 show up as downloads in different tabs for each resolution and for stereo and 5.1. You also need to download their app and use that to do the downloads, after first selecting the albums to download.

Perhaps you should explain more about your difficulty.

Thanks mkt and johnbs for confirming you didn't get confirmation emails. Below is what I see when I try to download the problem album (Tchaikovsky Complete Ballets).

I went through the help/support section and reported the issue by filling out the form, but afterward, the website said "expect an automated email within 5 minutes to confirm we received your issue". I never got an email, and that's when I noticed that I also never got a confirmation email for the order. So now I'm a little worried that I won't hear back from Chandos because of some email issue. I guess I'll have to wait until Monday and hope for the best.

(If I can hear back from Chandos, I'm fairly confident my issue can be resolved because even if the complete ballets are off the website, the 3 individual ballets are available so I think it's highly likely I can get links to the 3 individual ballets)

That does not look good, do you get the same error if you choose the non-surround hires version (Studio, I think)?

John

Meanwhile, I was wondering if eclassical might pick up the Chandos surrounds (and maybe add atmos!) downloads in the future 🤞

Noncommittal but at least they know there is some interest.

Thanks for following up. They had the non-surround version, but strangely not the surround version.

I did end up hearing back. They're refunding me the money. I just bought the individual ballets, so everything should be resolved (when the credit card refund goes through at least).

Sorry to hear about the missing surround version, as surround downloads are so important, given that there are so few suppliers.

Swung by Academy Records in NYC, and got a nice selection of mostly Japanese SACDs at reasonable prices. The Neumann Ma Vlast - from a Supraphon quad tape - is an especially nice find.View attachment 111544
And one Lyrinx SA-CD at the bottom right corner.

Lyrinx is a French company founded by René Gambini. It was the first record company in France to make SA-CDs thanks to a Sonoma DSD digital audio workstation lent by Sony (a unique case in France).

Is this Lyrinx SA-CD really a japanese edition ? If so, is it a re-release by a Japanese company such as Tower Records ?

No, the Lyrinx is actually a western release - the others are J-SACDs.

I just received my shipment of 15 multichannel SACDs from trptk a label in the Netherlands specializing in classical music and occasional jazz! Had it not been for QQ poster Steve Bruzonsky who listed their website in the Sales/Discount code thread, I would never have discovered this amazing treasure trove of music whose state of the art recordings are absolute perfection in terms of immersion [think Tacet] and repertoire! Their recent Black Friday sale discounted their SACDs to as low as €5 and if I had known in advance the quality of their offerings I would've ordered their entire inventory of SACDs! And after they removed the VAT and shipped my entire order for €8 TOTAL [and extremely carefully at that] the actual price per disc, delivered, was under $8 US!

I am currently listening to this marvelous and discretely immersive album for piano, cello and percussion which comes gorgeously packaged in an elongated digipack and can only describe the experience as exhilarating!
