On the 3rd, King Crimson, St.David's Hall, Cardiff. It'll be the first time I've ever seen them, I've always been in the wrong place (or time!) to see them.

Tonight I attended my first Songwriter's Round performance at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville where I got to hear my friend and mentor Joe West perform all of his #1 hits and more with three other great songwriters also sharing some of their best songs too.

Joe (co)wrote these country #1 hits:

-"Do You Believe Me Now?" (recorded by Jimmy Wayne)
-"American Ride" (recorded by Toby Keith)
-"Without You" (recorded by Keith Urban)

It was a great evening for sure! :)

Wow indeed!!! I'm seeing them in London next week, and really looking forward to it, especially after seeing the incredible setlist. You should have headed your post "spoiler alert"!!! I'd already seen the setlist anyway, and I believe it changed between the 2 Aylesbury nights.

ahhh, don't worry, they'll play a different setlist every night...
Tony played "Red" on his STAND UP BASS!!!(and VERY TASTY licks in LTIA pt II!!!..on the 2nd night- see??a different setlist!!!)

Cheers!

Saw Peter Frampton last weekend, GREAT show.
I've always considered him a guitar player first and foremost and he lived up to it.
And he's a really funny and personable guy to boot.
My wife thinks it one of the best shows we've ever been to

King Crimson, St. David's Hall, Cardiff last night (3rd Sept.), all I can say is WOW oh WOW!  Its a tremendous venue, good acoustics and views of the stage (seen quite a few gigs there now). An astounding gig, great arrangements of songs, played my favourites from Court, Islands, Starless. Jakko's singing was great somewhere between John Wetton & Greg Lake. You could see the band enjoying themselves, and incredibly tight, timing was perfect. Fantastic musicianship all round, and with 3 drummers, watching six (or more) drum sticks in syncopation was mesmerising! They played for well over 2 hours. Those of you still to see them are in for a great concert. In my top ten all time best gigs.

PS: the tickets said 7:30pm, my brother and I got stuck in traffic by the Newport tunnel, so got there at about 7:45, and they'd already started. So the time on the ticket is the time they start.

Saw Phish tonight (last evening) in Colorado. The 1st encore was Bike by Pink Floyd - apparently not the first time they have played it but quite a rarity. It was a blast!

The city of Chicago opened it's generous heart to us on our recent visit. Beautiful, free concerts in the park of glorious music. We visited on quite a few days for open rehearsal and three nights of superb music. Never to be forgotten. A beautiful, generous city

The conductor was brilliant and spent quite a good deal of time describing the pieces prior to the orchestra playing as well as quite a good deal of insight and history

The Aristocrats invaded UCSD campus on August 28th topping a bill with two other bands.

Because they weren't expected to hit the stage until 10pm, we kept up our mischief nearby until 9pm. Walking in at 9:30 we find them on them into their third song! What we didn't know was a 11:15pm noise curfew was in place.

They roared into the new material with gusto, asking if anybody had gone to the 4 showcase shows in San Pedro and a half dozen hands went up including mine.

Tunes such as Culture Clash had the familiar bite but also a newfound edge. Instead of straight readings, these tunes were warped in wonderful ways. As I would text Bryan Beller, band telepathy was in high gear. The stage volume and acoustics were dialed in perfect, flattering the bands every move.

Marco's drum solo was fresh, wondrous to witness, transmitting all kinds of information. My friend is an accomplished drummer and he thought it was the best one he'd seen. We saw Aristocrats back in 2014 together and I had to agree how much he'd grown since if that's even possible.

King Crimson in London tonight . The start of a big month of gigs for me. Apart from tonight, I also have at the end of the month David Gilmour, and Steven Wilson (twice @:), all at the Royal Albert Hall .

Last night (Thurs the 10th) was Justin Hayward live in Nashville, less than a year after the first solo concert I went to of his in the same city! This year's show was at TPAC (Tennessee Performing Arts Center) in a seated theater, whereas last year's show was at City Winery for more of a nightclub kind of feel.
The setlist and flow of the show was largely the same, but he did add a solo acoustic performance of the Blue Jays single "Blue Guitar" to start the show, and later on he played that great Moody Blues classic "Never Comes the Day".
Also like the previous year, his guitar player Mike Dawes played about four solo pieces to start off the evening, including this fantastic cover of "Somebody That I Used To Know" (Gotye)

I'm sure I said it last year, but if you are a Moody Blues fan, you must check out this solo tour from Justin Hayward for a much more intimate but still satisfying musical evening! :)

Good ole' Steven Wilson in La Riviera, Madrid...
Lookin' forward to Nick doin' the Stick right hand "release"...heh heh

Tuesday night, Sept. 15, in Bethesda, Maryland (near Washington, DC) - the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra. This is a jazz fusion trio consisting of bass, drums and *steel drums*. The whole band is great, but Cody Wright is fast becoming one of the most lauded bass players of his generation. Full tour schedule here: http://www.jonscales.com/tour

My pleasure! The full Spanish section of QQ forum attended this gig.

Funny thing about Steven's comment is that he asked the audience if we considered him as a metal player. Right after that he introduced the PT song Open Car as "gay metal".

The concert was outstanding from my point of view, I only missed Guthrie and I really enjoyed Steven being more active with the lead solos, specially with PT songs. On the quad side of things, the effects were almost inaudible until the encores mainly due to the terrible acoustics of the venue. Suddenly the surround volume level seemed to have been boosted up for Watchmaker and it was fine for the rest of the encores.
