Plus Lazarus, Sleep together and The Sound of Muzak. Superb playing, PT original members were not missed

and right before the "intro" (kids screaming in a playground and slideshow/movie) they played This Mortal Coil's "Song of the Siren" and Bauhaus "Bela Lugosi's dead" on the PA...

yeah, I really don't know how to understand the "Gay Metal" thing..maybe Steven's gay, but I don't care ... but he certainly has a good eye for good lookin' women (the model on the Hand cannot erase-she yummy!)

Boom, another successful booking this morning….. got some great gigs locked in :

Devin Townsend
Megadeth
AC/DC
Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden

All dancefloor (y)

Just scored a pair of tickets to Black Sabbath at the Fabulous Forum in LA! I've never seen them live, but better late than never! Kind of sad... My second "fairwell" concert this year with another to come (if you count Rush and Iron Maiden, which it could very well be for both)

Sir Elton is headlining Music Midtown in Atlanta at this moment. And living just a few blocks away from the park I went to check out the scene. (I did not get a ticket having seen him recently and not wanting to deal with festival crowds and all.) To my surprise the screen was visible from a small area on the street so I stayed and enjoyed the show for an hour or so until the crowd and the smoking (and my aching back!) got to be a bit much. He was in fine voice and was playing nothing but classic era tunes from Madman, Yellow Brick Road, Honky Chateau, etc. No, I can't really count this as an attended gig but it was still great to catch a glimpse of one of my early musical heroes in my own 'back yard'. :)

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I have three tickets up for grabs for Steven Wilson's Royal Albert Hall shows this coming Monday and Tuesday: one for the Monday and a pair for the Tuesday show.

I am going to be at both shows so I can meet up with anyone interested beforehand.

I'm not sure whether I am allowed to put any more details here so thought I would ask before doing so?

The review will come when I am back home... Being two meter away from the CN solo is a surreal experience...

I was on the other side of the stage. Great gig, awesome guitar solos, he seemed to be struggling with his voice at times. He may have had a cold or something, as he was sipping a lot from a mug of drink.

Steven Wilson at the Royal Albert Hall, tonight and tomorrow night . I understand that he'll be playing different sets each night, one night being the Hand Cannot Erase show, the other being another show entirely. So hopefully worth the 2 late nights!

They'll be worthy, for sure. Please report back with the setlists and the special guests!

Just on the tube after the most incredible gig. The first set was HCE, the second was various goodies. Just over 2 and a half hours of music , I'm tired out!

Musical special guests were Ninet, singing wonderfully on Routine, and Mikel from Opeth to join the band for an amazing Drag Ropes (the Storm Corrosion song ) including the backing video!

Setlist to follow.

Oh my goodness! Pretty sure "Drag Ropes" (or anything from "Storm Corrosion" from that matter) has never been performed live before, so that in itself must have made the entire show worthwhile! :)

WOW - would never have guessed that! Seeing Ninet and Mikel do these songs live would be a dream!

It was all pretty amazing . I would add that I've never heard the sound in the Albert Hall that good before.

SW said during the gig that his next EP would be out in January and would include the new song they were playing My Book of regrets, as well as an old song from Deadwing period.

My train station platform is full of little girls and parents on their way back from seeing One Direction at the O2! Probably a slightly different gig from the one I've just seen!

Another superb gig by Steven Wilson and his band at the Royal Albert Hall last night. First half was "Hand. Cannot. Erase" in it's entirety, including the long awaited and spine tingling live duet with Ninet Tayeb on "Routine" - boy, can she belt it out! Great to see Craig Blundell up there on drums, too.

Second half contained a great mix of expected and unexpected, the highlight of which, for me, was either the stunning live performance of "Drag Ropes" from Storm Corrosion with non other than Opeth's Mikael Åkerfeldt guesting on vocals (never thought I would see that one done live!), "How is your Life Today" from "Lightbulb Sun" or "Sound of Musak." Lots more surprises in store for those lucky enough to be going tonight to look forward too as well!

...oh and there's the prospect of a new EP early next year which will contain "left over" material from Deadwing and Hand.Cannot.Erase, including the new Epic "My Book of Regrets" which was also played at the RAH last night. Complete speculation on my part but I wonder if this will have a BluRay 5.1 release, like "Drive Home" had?

Not much more to add to that! A stunning show, as ever. I thought 'Routine', which tests my tear ducts at the best of times, was epic, made more so by Ninet being there. Blundell was epic on drums. A gifted individual.

Drag Ropes was another treat, as was having Carrie there on stage to tie stage to screen so well. And I agree that 'My Book of Regrets' should be amazing and I do hope the EP gets a 5.1 release.

I'm gutted that I can't go to tonight's show as Matt Berry will be amazing, and there promises to be more rare treats than last night.

Another great night in the company of Mr Wilson.

I thought SW spoke about the EP coming in January as if it was definite, even though he went on to say that they hadn't recorded My Book of Regrets yet. Yes hopefully this will be a bluray 5.1 disc too, and would be great if it included the video to Routine as well (with a 5.1 soundtrack). Another tear jerking video, he doesn't seem to do comedy videos for his songs does he!

His comments about tonight's setlist were promising, he said that last night they were a professional band playing the songs they knew, whereas tonight they would seem like amateurs as they would be playing songs they hadn't played before!

And I agree, I was very impressed with Craig Blundell. Epic indeed, and the drum sound last night was so powerful.

I can't recall exactly what he said, but what stuck in my memory was "new EP, early next year" :)
