Opeth Setlist from last night at The Belasco Theater in Los Angeles:
Sorcery:
1. Sorceress
2. Ghost of Perdition
3. Demon of the Fall
4. The Wilde Flowers
5. Face of Melinda
6. Will O the Wisp
7. Cusp of Eternity
8. The Drapery Falls
9. The Devil's Orchard
10. Hex Omega
Damnation:
11. Windowpane
12. Death Whispered a Lullaby
13. In My Time of Need
14. Closure
Deliverance:
15. Master's Apprentices
16. By the Pain I See in Others
17. Deliverance

The show was fantastic and the boys played for 3 straight hours (well, they rested about 10 minutes before starting into the Damnation/Deliverance portion of the show). Don't necessarily expect this setlist if you go, though, because apparently they're only doing this "extra-long" setlist 4 times on the current tour... I had no idea going into last night, but sometimes you just get lucky!

In!
Will be my first show at the historic Folly.
Quite the global itinerary, Australia to Taiwan to a baker's dozen US dates on the way to India.
Feel fortunate to have him stop within 200 miles of me.

Custom-molded 25 dB etymotic hi-fi and 33 dB foam industrial earplugs at the ready. :music

Steven Wilson - Folly Theater - KCMO - November 13

The Hand. Cannot. Erase. tour is an audio/visual experience, combining quadrophonic sound, virtuoso musicianship and beautiful films to create an immersive multi-media concert experience.

Bruce Soord of The Pineapple Thief will be performing a solo set as opening act for the first 9 shows.
This will be the first time Bruce has toured in the USA, and he will be playing music primarily from The Pineapple Thief catalogue.

Picked up a pair of Tix for Steven Wilson on November 5th in Los Angeles at the Belasco... it's very small and general admission only, but my son's growth spurt this year has finally made GA an option! We saw Steven for Hand.Cannot.Erase. and my son's been begging to go again ever since... How could I say no?! ;)

My Steven Wilson plans now include Portland, LA and Solana Beach in the west and later Atlanta with my son!

Snood got some balcony seats for the Orlando show think it Nov 11th friday......you can let me know how good it was:banana:

Looking forward to Anderson Rabin Wakeman this weekend in the first row in Pittsburgh. Have talked with Steve Howe about the surround mixes at a couple of meet and greets, so it will be fun to see what John and Rick have to say on the subject!

Tell them we want "Going for the One" in surround! :)

....and tell Trevor we want 90125 and Big Generator!

BTW, I caught ARW on Friday night. It was great! Nice to see Trevor back in action after such a long absence from the road. Jon was in fine voice. Rick was playing beautifully.

Got a realistic suggestion for who would be willing to mix "90125" and "Big Generator" in surround? (And don't say Steven Wilson, cause that will never happen...)
As for the show, I'm glad you liked it. I'm looking forward to the Nashville show in November! :)

How about Jakko Jakszyk? He's picked up the Crimson and ELP titles that SW didn't want to do. Maybe Bob Clearmountain? Maybe Andy Jackson might be interested? Certainly couldn't hurt to ask any of these folks.

Not to mention that there have been nice 5.1 mixes recently (I'm thinking Velvet Underground's Loaded or the Anthony Phillips titles) that were done by some people who aren't as high profile as Steven Wilson. I'd be more than happy to hear how the mixers behind any of those titles would handle 90125 or Big Generator.

The Rabin era albums are ideal candidates for surround. Rabin really loved to layer harmonies, keys and guitars. They're a lot like Queen in that respect. They could be glorious in 5.1.

Benmont Tench - last night performed a first and only solo show at McCabe's on Pico in Los Angeles.

Keyboard player in Tom Petty's Heartbreakers, no one else has a resume like his today, Dylan... etc.

A wonderful full 90min. set. He is playing in NYC later this year, and that is his world tour.

So, the ARW show was great, with the boys in fine form, energetic and having fun!

At the question and answer panel, after the Two Big Questions (is there going to be a new release? Could there be a Union-style reunion?) had been addressed, I asked whether they had heard Steven Wilson's mixes? Rick explained that they rarely receive copies of anything from record companies these days, and Jon added that he only recognizes maybe 25% of what fans present for autographs at shows. Jon added that Steven Wilson had emailed him some sound files. Then Trevor cut through the comments and clarified that the answer was "no!", but added that he was impressed with Bob Ludwig's work.

Apparently last night in Vegas, Phish put on another one of their musical Halloween costume concerts. This year they played Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars in its entirety. They also did "Space Oddity" as an encore. Wish I could've been there!

EDIT: OOOOOH! There's a pro-shot video of the whole set on YouTube! I've only watched the first few minutes but it looks fun!

Speaking of the show last Sunday night, I ran into Jackson Browne in the lobby / store of the venue. I was tempted to mention that some of us are waiting for "Late for the Sky" from original quad master tapes. Just so I could do my part for vintage quad for the day.

But Jackson first asked me if I knew where there were CDs for sale? And I just didnt have it in me to shift gears so quickly to what I want. I should have said "they don't make CDs anymore, it's all downloads and SACD/DVD with surround layers. Btw Jackson......

He looked shorter, a bit smaller and much older than I expected. But I guess we are all getting older and we look it.
