Do you like it?

The album is great; mix is o.k Excellent mastering unlike alot of heavy rock 5.1 discs such as Opeth, Katatonia. Needs to be cranked which is great.

Drums should of been spread across full soundstage instead of just fronts. Vocals sound immense. Alot of the screams at the end of vocal lines should of bled into the rears. No creativity in the mix. That being said it is an enjoyable listen.

I think metal works better in 5.1 with not too much going on.
A solid mix is what I prefer to let it compact.

I don`t know it, but sometimes you must take a small risk ;)

I had to buy it twice, the first copy I bought would only play the CD layer on my BDP (CA=Oppo clone) and wouldn't play at all on my Pioneer DVDA/SACD machine. Thankfully the 2nd copy I bought played fine on both machines, not sure what that was all about as they look identical but still.. anyway to me its pleasant enough, the highest praise I can give it is to say its a well-recorded album.. fidelity is high, it sounds excellent.. but it's a bit samey musically and the surround mix isn't very interesting/engaging, which is a shame as a great surround mix may have given the material a lift and taken it out of the ordinary.

The first release on Warner Classics that I know of. Used to be EMI. It's stereo. May as well keep it sealed.

Found the Hybrid of Spyro Gyra Wrapped in a Dream for 10 bucks this weekend. I had The Deep End & Modern Times so I figured why not. Have not had a chance to listen to it yet.

Acura/ELS Surround Premium Audio System Demonstration Disc (DVD-Audio) OPDV-8056.

The Acura 2008 DVD-A Demo Disc with Elliot Scheiner's 5.1 mix of Fleetwood Mac's "Monday Morning" on it (not found anywhere else, so far) and Steve Miller's "Fly Like An Eagle" in 5.1 Hi-Rez, etc.

All 5 of the Spyro Gyra SACDs are terrific with excellent surround mixes imho, well worth tracking down the lot of 'em :)
