One of 1st dvd audio discs. It came with my JVC dvd a player, and also a Yes sampler with cuts from Magnification. Sold it to a member a while back. Great disc.

I don't know César, it only just arrived in the mail tonight. I've had the DVD-A for a good few years but it's been a long long time since I played it so I can't remember what mix & sound quality are like. I'll give the SACDs a spin this weekend and report back

These two from the Metallica website. Look just like the ones that used to be in stores. They were sent by Fedex Home Delivery. Arrived yesterday and have been on my porch since then (yikes!). They are indoors now.

I bought one with large hinges at Best Buy a few years ago. Same with Fleetwood Mac Rumours. These may be the only two Warners dvd-audio disks that were ever updated to large hinges.

These two from the Metallica website. Look just like the ones that used to be in stores. They were sent by Fedex Home Delivery. Arrived yesterday and have been on my porch since then (yikes!). They are indoors now.

I did have copies of the variations at one point but now got rid of the spares. from memory, beyond the case hinge sizes.. I don't recall the usual differences in front cover graphics between U.S and Euro as with all Warner DVD-A's in Super Jewel Plus (European has big DVD-A logo in one big border/flash across the top and U.S. issue has two smaller block borders at top and bottom with artwork centred.. I think this one only ever came with one big block of bronze across the top of the front cover art but not 100% sure..).

anyway, one version was printed darker and murkier so less clear with the black line art & "Metallica" wording graphics on the front cover less distinguishable from the black background and logotype less clear on one than the other.) ..but it's minor, contents were the same so I just hung onto the one in nicest shape.. but there are subtle variations with this title on DVD-A along those lines.

I think Hotel California got re-pressed and rejigged into large hinge too.. I only have two left now and they're identical so can't say with total certainty. Probably just the few "big" sellers that required a reprint by the time they'd gone from narrow to large hinge cases?

Just your imagination fredblue. I've still got the one I bought at Best Buy years ago and one I just received a couple of days ago, and the serpent looks identical.

As a result of my close inspection I noticed one of the new cases has a crack. The jiffy bag strikes again.

I only have 14 DVD-A with those type of jewel cases and only one has the larger hinge (Frampton Comes Alive). I don't own the Metallica disc but it does look interesting.
