Christian Willisohm "Hold On" 5.1 Hybrid-SACD. The 5.1 is actually just the ambience of the recording studio, its just Blues piano and vocals, very clear recording. This is a nice album, good music, nice piano playing. The CD layer has a band playing the same tracks - so band in stereo, single performer in sort-of-surround, which is a bit odd really!

How bizarre..?!? A reviewer over @ sa-cd.net says the same thing about this disc!@: I wonder if it was an authoring, or mastering error, or intentional..?

The blurb with the disc says "The surprising thing on this Hybrid-CD is the CD version. Christian Willisohm has invited six fellow musicians to the studio who add drums, bass, guitar, saxophone and cor anglais to his original recording from Scotland". So it looks like they added their parts in another studio and that was mixed into stereo, the original piano and vocals were recorded directly onto a SADIE DS8. All back to front to me!

Surprising..ly stupid to have the band performances in stereo and solo performances in surround..! :D

Thanks for the info though! (y)

I've been scratching my headsmiley_emoticons_confusednew.gif trying to figure out where everyone is picking up the multi-channel Super Sessions SACD. All the sites that have it listed for sale, including Audio Fidelity, show it and Breezin' as "COMING SOON".:yikes

Children of Bodom: Blooddrunk. Not great by any means.
