I have been musing over getting any of the Nat King Cole SACDs for a while, I grew up listening to music like this as my father was a big fan of his, which is why I've ended up buying the music of Dave Brubeck, Fats Waller, Stephan Grapelli, Oscar Peterson etc. (BTW saw Oscar Peterson at the Birmingham Symphony Hall (UK) with my father, an amazing gig). Looks like they're worth getting. :)

Definitely worth getting. It's fair to say you've never heard Nat King Cole sound this good before.

I have 3 in the series (Just One of Those Things, After Midnight, Love is the Thing) and they are fantastic. The stereo and 3-channel mixes are a treat but don't be put off by the mono-only After Midnight. It features his trio with guest soloists (rather than the lush orchestrations found in the other two) and sounds marvelous. It may be my favorite of the three.

Agreed on the After Midnight.
I like Nat King Cole and the sacds are definitive but for me After Midnight is enough mostly due to how his song selection and style changed.
This one is with the trio and is less homogenous than his later recordings became.
Please I'm not looking down my nose at his other work, far from it, I just prefer this era.

BTW, I saw The Nat King Cole Story listed on eBay for like $150 Buy It Now.
WTF? More like Buy It Never.
You'd think that people who collect SACDs and are even remotely aware would realize this is a blatant, bend-over rip.

Why, is it out of print? That's the only Nat King Cole SACD that I purchased. (Actually, 2 SACDs.) It's all the Nat King Cole I will ever need.

Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer is the only Nat song that means anything to me.

That one's a steal compared to this

That's really odd since The Nat King Cole Story is still in print and In Stock at Acoustic Sounds for $65.
I suppose if you only shop on eBay you may not know that. Oh well, it pays to check the search engines !

Robert Reed - Sanctuary actually has a DVD-A option as well as the DTS, even though it has only the DVD-Video logo on the back cover. Great list, by the way!

I finally broke down and purchased, Blood, Sweat & Tears - "Child Is Father To The Man". It is due with the mail tomorrow.

This one is sounding really good! It is placing very high on my list for one of the best sounding surround purchases of the year. Just incredible stuff...so happy I didn't pass on this one. :)

Blood Sweat and Tears - Child is Father to the Man - SACD. Bought it today and i can´t wait to get home to see if i can agree with the positive reactions here

Grover Washington, Jr. - Winelight DVDA
Emerson, Lake & Palmer DVDA
Pink Floyd - The Endless River Bluray

Get ready for one of the most wonderful surround music experiences imho! I'm taking my copy of the Winelight DVD-A to the grave! :p

Thanks, Adam!

I am listening to it as I write. WoW! You're absolutely right. Just fabulous! It sounds better than I remember my LP ever sounding. Man! This music transports me back to 1980. I think I'd better put on American Gigolo with Richard Gere and friends. LOL!!!

Is there any Blondie in hirez-surround?? :spot

Addenda: Next week Wednesday is the 15th anniversary of Grover's untimely passing.
