I had one Hell of a trip hearing My Wild Love for the first time in 5.1!

I'm only missing Strange Days and I cannot wait to hear it.

Hearing those albums in 5.1 only makes one imagine what we're missing with other artists of the times. I'd love to hear The Beatles' White Album and Abbey Road in 5.1

Abbey Road in 5.1 (mixed by Elliot Scheiner, no less) sits in a vault somewhere, apparently.. how true those rumours really are I don't know, who knows!?.. but all is not lost, iirc there's a great (romanotrax?) modern remix of the album I think from multitrack elements, I'll have to check it's been a while and my mind is full of SQ stuff at the minute (I can barely think of anything else outside of work!) but if you have a search round I'm sure you'll find something nice from the Fab Four in Five channels! Or was it the Fab Five in Four Channels!? Oh silly me, that'd be the Spice Girls in Quad!

Well, that's something (pun not intended) that I have never heard before. Hopefully it will be released sooner than later.

Playing right now as I've just received it:

For anyone curious about this one, it's a blend of Chemical Brothers and Massive Attack with a few Hip-Hop/Rap tracks. Crazy busy multichannel mix offered in 6.1 & 5.1

I'm really happy with it especially as I got it for about $18 shipped sealed!

Several tracks from Abbey Road or the White Album have been mixed in 5.1 from the multitracks and are available officially on the Anthology DVDs (mixed by Peter Mew IIRC) or Love (mixed by Giles Martin).

He is a questionnable mastering engineer, but a pretty good mixing engineer. He remixed Jethro Tull's This Was in stereo for instance and it is my favourite version.

Thank you for the cool info! I never stop learning at this game! I think Mr.Mew did some Quad mixing too back in the day? ELO First Light DVD-V set liner notes mention it iirc?

I think that might be the credit for the remastering of the Quad mix, but I don't have that DVD so I could be wrong.

Yes, he did a very good job on This Was and an equally good job on the stereo mix of Donovan's Sunshine Superman IMO.

I need a British translation...in the notes it says "once in the digital domain, the audio was "topped and tailed"...not sure with this word useage what was done...

In this instance I guess they mean they took the end of Side 1 (the tail) and edited it to the start of Side 2 (the top) so by topping and tailing they made a seamless whole.

Usually you would use the expression for tasks such as preparing vegetables, i.e topping and tailing your carrots would mean chopping off the bad bits at either end :)

Tomorrow's Great British culinary menu masterclass includes: How to boil cabbage into oblivion and mastering our cordon bleu dish of the day, Bangers and Mash.

Edit: Scrap all that about vegetables.. What atrocity said..!

The US and UK are two countries separated by a common language. :yikes

A weekend trip to Amoeba in Hollywood netted me two used Talking Heads DuoDiscs ("Fear of Music" and "Naked"), an a new Gentle Giant "Power and the Majesty". "Fear" had some separation around the outer edge of the DVD layer, but it played fine.
