The Best Of The Doors (Hybrid MultiCh Quad 4.0 SACD).

View attachment 20088

I've mentioned it elsewhere, but I feel that they should have done a quad to stereo fold-down, and used that on the stereo track. So that stereo fans could hear the uniqueness of the mixes just like we all did when we played this in stereo from the CD-4 Quadradisc. So since the stereo layer is not the quad it makes more since to remove the logo. But likely Warner Music said not to use their old q logo.

I agree its a really good disc in surround (or stereo)

Fantastic mixes, but the drummer sounds like he is banging on cardboard boxes IMO. I am not liking the drum sound. 5.1 is sublime.

Ah, glad to see you've already ordered it. :) Yeah, it's a great mix. And given the textural nature of the music I'm finding it best appreciated in surround. Good stuff!

Mahler : Symphony no.2 - Chailly (conductor) DVD-A

The Moody Blues - Question Of Balance - SACD
The Moody Blues - On The Threshold Of A Dream - SACD

Even if Justin did use NR and some wonky EQ choices for these releases, hearing those Quad mixes is such a flippin' treat! Melancholy Man is my favourite track from A Question Of Balance and it is worth every Rupee!

The Doors - Waiting For The Sun - SACD (Analogue Productions)
The Doors - The Soft Parade - SACD (Analogue Productions)
The Doors - Morrison Hotel - SACD (Analogue Productions)

I gotta say, I absolutely LOVE the 5.1 of The Soft Parade! Sure, some tracks could offer a tad more action in the rears, but having the brass section and Jim's back vocals back there sounds tremendous. Lovin' this one to bits...

I had one Hell of a trip hearing My Wild Love for the first time in 5.1!

I'm only missing Strange Days and I cannot wait to hear it.

Hearing those albums in 5.1 only makes one imagine what we're missing with other artists of the times. I'd love to hear The Beatles' White Album and Abbey Road in 5.1

You won't be disappointed with Strange Days...what a great disc....and that particular song sounds stellar in surround!!
