Steven Wilson - Official page
Steven's new stereo / 5.1 surround sound remixes of both Yes (official) "Close to the Edge", and XTC "Nonsuch" are now in stock and shipping from Headphone Dust.

Both come in a choice of Blu-Ray / CD or DVDA / CD editions, each containing new stereo and 5.1 mixes, and the original stereo mix, all flat transfers with no additional mastering. The blu-ray editions also contain additional bonus material such as instrumental mixes, and on the XTC release demo / video material.

These releases are the first in a series of artist approved deluxe definitive editions covering both of these band's classic albums - each release requires a tremendous amount of work, not just on the audio, but also on compiling the bonus material, artwork and other archive material, so they will be released gradually with the next 2 in each series planned for Spring 2014.

Also released last month was Steven's stereo / 5.1 remix of Jethro Tull's "Benefit" from 1970.

so they will be released gradually with the next 2 in each series planned for Spring 2014.

The next 2 :yikes . Where's Dennis Moore riding through the glenn to tell us that one of these must be Tales from Topographic Oceans!! Although my preference would be Topographic and Relayer, my guess is Going for the One and The Yes Album.

I really would love to have Going For The One next, because I think Awaken is their best song ever.
But I would also take each other :D

The next 2 :yikes . , my guess is Going for the One and The Yes Album.

I am agreeing with you as these seem to make most sense as the present tour involves these 2 albums as well as CTTE.
Whatever it is will be a welcome addition, sure hope the next set don't have any extra delays due to wherever these get manufactured.

I know that "Drums and Wires" was mentioned as the second XTC album to get the 5.1 treatment. I wonder what the third one is?

Screw you Amazon US. I preordered this and you're already out of stock with no delivery date in sight. Cancelled my order and bought it via Burning Shed. Ships tomorrow.

so they will be released gradually with the next 2 in each series planned for Spring 2014.

Unfortunately the news on Steven Wilson's official website has now been amended to say "These releases are the first in a series of artist approved deluxe definitive editions covering both of these band’s classic albums – each release requires a tremendous amount of work, not just on the audio, but also on compiling the bonus material, artwork and other archive material, so they will be released gradually with the next in each series planned for Spring 2014."

The number "2" has now been deleted after "next". Oh well, we've still got 2 great SW mixes coming out in Spring 2014, one Yes and one XTC, so we mustn't grumble :D.

They probably meant "the next 2, one in each series" but had a copy writing blunder that made it sound like they were going to release 2 in each series so cleaned it up.

For those in the U.S. who are bummed that amazon.com is out of stock for this title, I know that Waysidemusic.com has several copies. $20 for the CD/DVD-A, $25 for the CD/Blu-Ray.

Queue up the cheesy upright piano playing the DennisMoore theme song: ...

Sorry I was late, I just got back from the auto-wrecking yard to pick up stuff from the car... No lupins there, alas... Once again: Thank God for airbags.

Ok gents: Tales must clearly be released next along with Going For The One(which contains my favorite YES tune as well; Awaken) and SW/NW must give us Relayer & TYA & Tormato & Drama & Fragile & YES & Time And A Word & YESSONGS & YESSHOWS(both mixed from whatever 1st gen tapes still exist.:D) For the kids here we can throw in 90125 also. ;))

Great to see things moving along here lads, even if SW modified his post, erasing the "two in the spring" his original chirp is clear evidence that we will get at least two more YES, which is wonderful news and will help us get to having all the classic YES done from 1st gen tapes and expertly crafted in 5.1 by our favorite tag team of SW/NW!

This is fabulous news. Sounds like it is reasonable to assume we may have all that classic YES in just a few more years! That sure beats the multi-year wait(with no end in sight) for The Wall or even if Animals ever gets done.

I am taking a huge leap of faith here, but I do chose to believe that SW/NW will redefine the clarity & sonic majesty of GFTO & Relayer. When those come out, you are all welcome to visit the estate of my wife & I and there will be free Lupins & ale for all!
