I've have the "Billion Dollar Babies" quad mix on vinyl since I was a kid. ("Muscle of Love," too.) The vinyl always had the allure of having different mixes, but man was it quiet. The new BluRay is bright, loud, and powerful. It's like discovering the album all over again.
I can't wait to get mine! It's out there somewhere.
I've been an AC fan since I was a kid (I was at the infamous riot at the CNE show in 1980!). Really pumped to hear this, especially after your review (y)

Received this, so I’m going to chill and see what happens. My order is expected to ship 8-3-23.

Unfortunately due to a system issue, the wrong release date was entered and it cannot be changed. Rest assured your order will still ship.

Tonight is going to be B$B in quad night. My second time playing this disc in full beginning to end. I’ve been playing one disc in full and then 3-4 days later I play another of the four, and then another disc 4-5 days later. I’m trying to enjoy them and not have the thrill factor wear out in them too soon.

It’s going to be interesting to see Rhino deliver four more titles that are as wide a cross section and are as exciting in general. I just can’t wait!

I did an Amazon search but could not find any listing for the four disc bundle. But Amazon is strange because when I searched for 'Red Octopus Quadio' it gave me 35 items...most of them plush red octopii plus a few other strange things...before actually showing what I was looking for.

The jar of F**ks just might be more fun than the J. Geils Quadio!

The Doobie Brothers' Quadio set sounds spectacular, especially when you select 192kHz, the highest available resolution.
I rip all of the Quadios to 96/24. When I ripped CTA to 192/24 way back when, the Oppo 205 had a hard time playing it back. A dollar says that I couldn't tell the difference between 192/24 and 96/24 anyway.

The only available resolution, on any and all of the Quadio Blu-rays.
That's a false assumption. Not all players can process 192kHz, so it's incumbent on publishers to include various rates and formats for maximum compatibility.

Still not convinced? Here's the proof. Let's take a look at Toulouse Street. Just make sure you are playing the resolution you really want.

Sure, I have all 4 of my Quadios, and have had for quite some time. Like others, I had a decent amount of drama wondering when they would arrive. Now, out of morbid curiosity, I have ordered another copy of Paranoid as my original copy arrived with a badly cracked case. Rhino didn't offer a replacement, rather simply a return for full credit, or keep it and receive 25% off what I paid.

I opted to keep it and get 25% off. In the meantime, I still want an umblemished, unopened copy. Which, is why I ordered another. Plus, I wanted to see if I get this one faster and with more shipping detail than previous.

So far, the whole process is behaving similarly to the first order I made. Yet, I did learn some things the first time....use UPS as your tracking method at first. If I use UPS, it tells me the package is in Kansas City, and will be delivered this coming Wednesday. If I use USPS, it tells me it's still in Carlsbad, CA.

As far as I'm aware, no player nor AVR will allow you to select which resolution gets decoded. The Quadio discs themselves certainly don't give you that option. DTS-HD Master Audio (and DTS:X, and Dolby TrueHD/Atmos, too) is indeed a tiered codec built on a core lossy DTS stream with multiple levels of "extensions" to fill in the missing data, and depending on your decoder's capabilities, all to none of those extensions may be used. I still wouldn't consider that having multiple resolutions available, as they are not user selectable, short of ripping the disc using a software decoder.

My circumstances are somewhat unusual, and here's what works for me.

I have a ZappitiNAS that I use for movies, and I treat multichannel music DVD and BLU-RAY as I would any other movie. I simply feed the disc into the ZappitiNAS, and it creates an ISO. When I play it, I also don't get the option to select the highest resolution.

MakeMKV is useful as it can open the ISO and from there I can select what goes into in the MKV it creates (as you can see in the above grabs). Once created, I put the MKV in the ZappitiNAS, and it plays the included resolution without issue.

If you prefer the highest possible resolution, this type of processing is well worth the effort.
