If only MOFI would do this. Wait 'til they actually know something before announcing a release. I've said it before. Don't announce releases until it's actually in production and be in your hands no more than two months later. Van Halen anyone?

D-V! We have no clue what's coming until they announce the titles for sale. This way they are not hounded about 'when is ___ coming out'.

I think in this case Rhino wanted us to know that there was still life in the Quadio series, and it was not a thing of the past.

Hopefully they announce the titles for pre-order, but if they don't, all it will do is keep this thread rolling forward. Once they are available, we're all going to get them, right? (And patiently wait for the next ones) :SG

We did this Quadio poll two years ago. It will be interesting to see if the announced titles are any sort of reflection of what QQ'ers were hoping for. The top two artists in the poll were Eagles & Joni Mitchell. Doesn't look like we're getting those, but maybe some of the runners up?
Always surprised Randy Newman gets such low votes, one of my favs for sure; guess he's just not for everyone.

Yeah, for my money, Randy is one of the greatest songwriters ever. I would certainly love to have his quads on Blu-ray. But as those albums were on Reprise I guess we won't be getting them in this round. Fingers crossed for the next batch!

We know by the title of this thread that they’re coming in June. Considering we have had to wait literally years for this to happen, we can wait a little bit longer. Each person here has done their part to show interest in getting modern rereleases. So, good job so far.

Next and finally, we’ll all need to buy. Whatever the title(s) will be. So be prepared and get ready to buy when the official announcement comes. I’m ready on day one to buy all 4 titles.

I just bought an AP Doors title that had the newer mixes that I'm completely regretting. I would grab a Doors in a heartbeat, but I would think they'd TRY to make it a full set, if quads were available for all/most of them. As long as it's with the old mix choices, I'm good.
I have the whole series, and I enjoy it, but I would also snap up a Quadio as well.

Re: The Doobie Brothers Quadio EQ - AFAIK, the same EQ was applied to all 4 albums (upper midrange cut & treble boost), this wasn't done on the CD-4s of these albums.

Analog tapes can have small treble losses for a variety of reasons, I have no problem with using EQ and compensating for those losses, but doing other EQ, IMHO, that crosses the line between restoration and enhancement, I hope these new Quadios are restored only.

If these new Quadios are enhanced, it isn't a dealbreaker for me.

Kirk Bayne
Captain And Me - a bit of low end was added to that one. The rest were left flat off the master.

Whatever you're doing at RHINO, just keep up the exceptional work. On my system ALL of your QUADIO efforts sound absolutely superb with no added EQ on my end ...just played back flat!

I'm still being nice but my daily checks of this thread are not producing the required results.

Atmos is not supposed to do upmixes right!

But the Mingus Moves album could still be a part of Quadio’s eight albums currently being positioned for release.

Really looking forward to these like the rest of us. And I hope to heaven they don’t choose any of weaker titles that don’t play so well as albums after all these years. There are a few albums that contain hits, but the whole is lacking imo.

I’ve said it before - that of all the eras in pop and rock album releases, the ‘71 - ‘76 period could not have been a better period to have quality material selected for quad surround. For me anyway it’s loaded up with personal favorites. And as some have said a bulk of the great quad has now all been reissued. We’ve gotten so many good ones of course. The Warner catalog has several or those last absolute top tier five-star 4.0 titles I want to hear and own.

And tons more good albums are to be done of course it ain’t over. Ok just rambling because I could not sleep.

I’m hoping the quad picks are based on artistic merit and quality of the 4.0 mix over hit singles. In other words I’d take Randy Newman over Seals and Crofts anyday. But I’ve not looked at the votes in a while but isn’t it low number of votes rather than low ratings votes?

For S&C, I’d prefer just the Greatest Hits and that’s it! Maybe they can collect all the hits from the quad albums and do a couple of mixes to complete it, and create the hits collection in quad that never was?

Glad you’re with me on the Randy; but it was one of those total number Polls rather than a quality rating Poll. I’ll take S&C also, but they’re low on my preferred artists; I’d much prefer someone like Graham Central Station.
