D-V! We have no clue what's coming until they announce the titles for sale. This way they are not hounded about 'when is ___ coming out'.
This suddenly makes me curious to see a list of everything they tried to issue but couldn't. Seeing the reasons why they couldn't happen would also be interesting.

Sometimes a blocked title is no longer blocked after a change or ownership or contract expires, or a death happens.

I know the details on a few titles that had master tapes available but did not get off the ground for other reasons.

I'm seriously getting crazy waiting to hear what these 4 titles are. No, I really am. I think about it at work......in the shower.....in the middle of the night. Yeah....I do.
I totally understand.
I am a tone chaser, so when I hear sound of a song or tune that really lands with that part of me, I can latch onto it pretty hard. I will periodically replay it for weeks, think of it to calm my nerves, and might even try and resonate with it in some way to help me fall asleep.

I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t sleep and didn’t know why - and then found myself on quadraphonic quad writing about the next possible things to come.

I hold a very thin sliver of hope one of them will be paranoid. The strands are getting thinner though. :(
I’ve come to the conclusion that with the realization that the Quadio launch being 13 years ago that the time for spacing the releases out and not giving too much at once has now passed. This is why we got big box sets of Chicago and Doobies.

And so having the pick of the litter coming about now is not asking for too much. We’ve already done the waiting.

Now about Sabbath, the issued quad fold-down a little while back says to me the alt mixes of this album being released is not contractually impossible. And it says Warner has the tapes as well. Ok it’s all good news. Rhino wants a successful series, the listeners and collectors want the good stuff, the decades of waiting have been completed. It’s coming now or in the next four after.

We’ve gone the distance, paid for our systems upgrades, Audio Fidelity, Dutton, Sony Japan, and SDE have paved the way to do this and shown that there is some market for the product even if it’s not a huge market.

And Rhino/WMG now get to step up and bat. They are not going to relaunch with scraps from the bottom of the barrel.

And excitingly I see an announcement coming imminently. I saw a crystal vision when I went back to sleep - of this announcement coming this week even.

So this must mean we are getting the goods here finally.

I’ve gotta say I’m really excited for this as it’s the first Quadio pre-release discussion I’ve been apart of. The Chicago and Doobies sets came out before I even joined this forum.

It’s really great to be able to share this excitement with all of you!! Just love this forum and everyone on here.

Now enjoy some QUADIO!!!!!!!!

Oh another thing, every time I’ve gotten my head stuck in a loop waiting for an announcement - praying it’s the title my heart wants and my soul needs - something else shakes loose from another label. Like a Stones, Beatles or Who title could get a surround release date while we are waiting for this series. This kind of thing is like a junky getting a light fix to hold them over for a bit.

I’d hate to see Rhino having their thunder stolen from them, like DV announcing BOC, and Johnny & Edgar Winter, plus Nilsson’s hot album, just as Sony Japan announce Santana Welcome in quad.

So I’m not going to my therapist about this pressing issue just yet. I’ve lost only a few hours of sleep this week, I’ll be ok.

It’s a really great time to join up or get into good surround mixes. Very high quality material coming out on several labels and things from the recent past that the consumer can find to purchase. Surround receivers are out there new and used at every price point.

Quadraphonic Quad has been an important source of info. The influence we have in the market is fairly evident.

I have this nagging feeling that the titles will not be known until the week of release…such exquisite torture 😫

Generally an advance buzz is desirable - a wildfire spreading through the online boards and forums about something cool (or absolutely essential) arriving before the ship date. This is especially true when the item is not being sold through local stores and other online sites.

So my optimistic guess is the titles are announced between May 22 - 26th. And available to ship two weeks later about June 7th, or 8th.

So this is not too long away from now if I’m anywhere near the ballpark.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful spring weekend!

I’m hoping the quad picks are based on artistic merit and quality of the 4.0 mix over hit singles. In other words I’d take Randy Newman over Seals and Crofts anyday. But I’ve not looked at the votes in a while but isn’t it low number of votes rather than low ratings votes?

For S&C, I’d prefer just the Greatest Hits and that’s it! Maybe they can collect all the hits from the quad albums and do a couple of mixes to complete it, and create the hits collection in quad that never was?
Quadraphonic greatest hits compilations would be awesome!!

Only good if you enjoy the “Reader’s Digest” versions of classic novels. Imagine if all we got was Santana’s greatest hits and that was it?

The idea here, based upon past experience, is to keep things going while the getting is good. We’ve seen different labels release a series of Quad titles, and eventually they stop. What would be great is to see as many titles as possible keep coming. So that everyone can get the Quad titles that they want.

Better the Readers Digest than none at all. Plus, if a record company releases a compilation and it is successful, I bet they'd then consider releasing the albums separately. Or in a box set.
