Am I missing something or has the track listing been totally changed since this release was first announced? And why is Track 12 on Disc 4 "Stevie Wonder"? Am I looking at a different release? The "Cry of Love" is not on this release as it was originally.

I suspect you are correct @~dave~~wave~. ie. That this is the very same bluray and it was not held back because of the flaws but for litigious reasons and furthermore that they wouldn't even care about the audio flaws.

No one with both copies able to put this to rest yet?

Someone mentioned the Hey Baby track. The original mix on Rainbow Bridge has "Is the microphone on", FYI. This is a new mix of the very same original recording.

The CD/albums are the bonus tracks of the set, FYI. The mix outtakes and working mixes done as overdubs and production moved along. A "behind the scenes" bonus. And the 5.1 "mix" of Mirrors is clearly an upmix of the drum overdub working mix included in these bonus tracks.

Interestingly, the discs are printed with 2021 copyright date, but the sleeve of my blu ray from the box set shows 2024.

Mine is from Germany.
On the Package is written: (P) & (C) 2021 Experience Hendrix, L. L. C., under exclusive license to Sony (...) 33311 Gütersloh (...)
Same on the last page of the booklet.

CD1: 2021
CD2: 2021
CD3: 2021
BD: 2021, BD bag too, not 2024!

My bluray disc says 2021 the cardboard cover says 2024 why did they reprint it with a new date?

I am listening to CD 2 the sound is superb. I am really enjoying this and love the package the book the photos etc
I suspect I will listen to the cds more than the bluray. Many tracks here I have never heard before.
And to think I contemplated canceling this order thinking the bluray was enough.....

Let me comment that the version of Come Down Hard On Me is a different one than on Loose Ends
The Loose Ends version has a Jimi vocal and nice guitar solo. Going from memory I prefer it to this one which is a nice funky instrumental take.
We will never know how some of these versions might have been completed due to Jimis death.

Mine came today. Be enjoying it shortly.

So somebody please tell me. Is the entire "The Cry of Love" on this release or not? I am fairly sure it was supposed to be but now looking at the track listing and seeing "Stevie Wonder" on disc 4 is confusing.

Rainbow Bridge
Cry Of Love
War Heroes
Loose Ends
are the 4 posthumous albums. Loose Ends had the most 'filler'. Cry Of Love is complete here and Rainbow is all but 3 tracks.

Those 'originals' weren't assembled by Jimi himself either. Everything has been posthumous with these tracks. So there are 3 only relatively recently released newer tracks remixed here but there are 3 or 4 from the original albums that certainly should have made the cut. Drifter's Escape and Look Over Yonder were sure pretty finished sounding.

No one with both copies yet?

This should help. Looks like all of Cry Of Love is there. Excellent sound, excellent mixes.

Is there a stand-alone blu-ray? 🤔

Between this and the copies folks got on EBay, this screams that there was some sort of internal squabble between rights holders regarding the release that delayed everything.
I think this has generally been the take on it for almost 2 years...

That's good to know.

I was hoping they'd found original tracks or mixes that hadn't been overdubbed by Alan Douglas & still had the original musicians playing their parts.

Maybe that's what happened to the handful of songs not included? (I mean the more realized songs. Not the live tracks and jam excerpts.)

I made a post a few back noting the songs used here. These are all clearly the same versions as the original mixes on the 3 main posthumous albums. Clearly mixed from the multitracks. There's no element of any of the foulness that was Crash Landing in any of this.

The outlier is the upmix of that demo mix of Room Full of Mirrors with the alternate drum overdub. Said demo mix is one of the bonus tracks in the set, FYI. Either this was a really disconnected mistake... Not sure how that might even work? The 5.1 mix wasn't delivered and someone in the mastering house decided to upmix one of the bonus tracks to fill the gap? That would be weird and firable. The multitracks were missing and they decided to make an upmix? Had to have this track even though other obvious songs to include are missing? That doesn't make sense either. The original mix is obviously still around. Or you know, do a vinyl needle drop? Using an outtake working mix?!

So I start to wonder if it was something awkward like... The multitracks were missing. The choked quality in the overall fidelity was acknowledged. Upmixing the official mix ended up calling out the fidelity on the rest of the set. This is also the reason the stereo originals of all the mixes are omitted from this set. That drum demo working mix lined up with the fidelity of the new mixes so they went with that in a pinch.

No one has both copies yet?

None of this speculation matters. It just calls attention to itself. The new 5.1 mixes are flawed fidelity but still just so welcome to have and still really good mixes! Unless this was actually corrected in the now official release... then I need to have it! So this is the real $64,000 question here.

Yeah, I wonder why that handful of the rest of the songs was left off. There was another bootleg favorite called South Saturn Delta that was finally officially released on a later repackaged collection of some of these tracks (on an album taking that song's title) that would have fit right in here. Probably simply missing multitracks for all this. The weird mistakes and the hold on the release begs these questions.

The Star Spangled Banner might have some rough unfinished spots. It was clearly a fun studio project that probably wasn't meant to be that serious. Come on though! So completely made for surround sound mayhem! Take a few liberties with computer assisted editing and get this track back in the set!

You keep saying that the new 5.1 mixes are ‘flawed fidelity’. What the heck are you referring to?
