I never heard of Zimmy doing Brownsville or NewDansville Girl in concert. But I love the outtake version of the tune found on bootlegs.

As I'm watching WGN Morning news, they played Tears for Fears Raoul and the Kings of Spain from '95. It's a good thing that this was a CD because i would have worn out the grooves on this track on vinyl. Curt was gone at this point. Raul (Roland's birth name) should have called it Tear for Fear.

Making it plain, making it sane, to turn this loss into a gain...

Love that song and album. A real crime that it went unnoticed when it released back in the day. I caught TFF a couple of weeks ago and they still put on a great show. Roland and Curt's voices are still as strong as they were when they were in their 20's. And they actually did play one song from this album ("Falling Down.") Would certainly love this album to get the SW 5.1 treatment! We're supposed to get a new album from them in 2016. Can't wait!

Actually, he did Danville Girl at a number of concerts in the 80's. Clearly, you're a fan of Blind Boy Grunt.

Yes, big fan. At the time the album came out, he launched his world tour with Petty and the Heartbreakers and did not play this on that tour.

Then the tour with the Dead, nope not here either.

The Never Ending Tour with GS Smith..... no, not in LA at the Greek, but maybe somewhere else.

Then 1989 comes to a close, no more 80s shows for it to be played. I'll look it up on one of the fanatical sites.

Amazing album (and its b-sides: War Of Attrition, Queen Of Compromise, etc...) and fabulous concert. The album features the superb Gail Ann Dorsey on bass and vocals whom had been part of the Elemental tour. He vocals on the live version of Woman In Chains were astounding! She also shows off her talents on the 2000 release of David Bowie ate the BBC concert. You can clearly hear her vocal contribution to The Man Who Sold The World (as on many other tracks as well). I would really love a 5.1 of both Elemental and Raoul & The King Of Spain.

Got my copy of Velvet Underground (Banana). I'll cut right to the chase. It sounds like ****. Could it be better than CD's out there? I don't know...but minus all that knowledge - it sounds thin, compressed and raspy. Disaster....

That being said..I love the music and am pleased to have this disc...won't be turning it up anytime soon though. :)

The only thing I can think of being more pointless in 24/96 than the Velvet Underground's first album is...the Velvet Underground's second album. :D

I love everything they ever did, but man, the recording quality SUCKED on those first two! I don't have a huge disagreement with those who say it fits the material, but I just don't get the point of all that overdriving and distortion. What were they thinking when they suddenly and arbitrarily cranked everything on that brief portion of "Femme Fatale"? (Hmmm...suddenly want to go home and see if that same oddity is on the mono version...)

I've been to many concerts recently by modern bands like Kasabian (HUGE in EU, but most Yanks ask "who?)and Imagine Dragons. Great music rendered nearly unlistenable by BONEHEADED engineering at Metro & Allstate Arena.

They think clipping makes it sound immediate and edgy. SOUNDS LIKE MUDDY ****!! I guess we just listen differently.

I can count of my fingers how many "live" rock concerts I have attended that I thought the music sounded stellar...that's why I prefer the studio releases for hi rez music...too many factors involved...

Agree. I've gotten very fussy about who I see and where they're playing. Bryan Adams was quite good last fall during his Reckless rerelease at a large venue here. Just saw Chris deBurgh a couple weeks ago, also excellent. This past spring though, I saw April Wine in a smallish venue. Whoever was managing the sound had it set for a large arena I'm sure. Didn't take any acoustic ear plugs, and my ears didn't stop ringing till noon the next day.WTF? How hard is it to figure out it doesn't have to be THAT LOUD? No enjoyment was had that night.

lmao - well...I'm listening to Roger Waters...Amused To Death blu-ray for the first time. And honestly, my system isn't up to par yet as I need to figure out where to put my speakers and run Audessey....

First impression is that it sounds amazing! First impression...

Ugh...sure it sounds good...but what about the content?...is it music or just a bunch of random sounds...I'm not sure I could relate to it even if I was stoned...

Not sure about content...I'm just enjoying the pristine surround experience...and it has moments of reminding me of The Wall. So far, so good. And yeah - I"m pretty sure if we were stoned, we'd like it a lot. But...that ain't gonna happen...so....
