I wish there was a way I could turn a stream into a 5.1 dvd-a for car use, which has become my most used listening environment. I can't stream in a car.
It is possible to capture streams using the proper equipment. In addition, there is a way (from what I have read online) that Tidal subscribers can download the .m4a audio files. Once you have the the audio files converted to the required file type, you then proceed with the process to author the DVD-A.

Seriously, I don't know the last time I was this pissed off and depressed about the lack of surround sound on such a release.
I mean I was pretty upset when the Immersion edition of "The Wall" was released without a surround mix, but it appears we're gonna get a 5.1 mix of that album eventually (as one was just recently completed by James Guthrie)
But this? This is seriously the biggest gut punch to me as both a Beatles fan and a fan of surround sound.
I guess this is the end of the Beatles on Blu-Ray Audio.
It was good while it lasted, 4 excellent box sets of really high quality remixes.
I'll treasure all of those box sets for many more years to come, but it's just so upsetting to me that "Revolver", my favorite Beatles album, got shafted like this.

:(

So who does that leave? To me, the answer is very clear. This is probably a Universal Music decision.
Someone at these Dolby Atmos streaming services (probably Apple Music primarily) must be pressuring these major labels to not only create Dolby Atmos mixes but specifically to release them only on their streaming services.
Why? Because fans not only have to pay a subscription to hear these mixes, but also they have to purchase special equipment for such streaming too, whether it's an Apple TV or even better, one of those stupid little amazon speakers.

So yeah, I think that's what it is. The major labels and streaming services working together to line each other's pockets.
Pretty typical if you ask me...

:( (n)
I expect you're right. But--and I know I'll never fully understand the thinking of music-biz suits--I still don't get how a streaming exclusive would be all that lucrative for either party. I can't believe that the people who know and care about multichannel are gonna be moved to sign up for an Apple Music subscription just to hear this one surround mix that they can't get anywhere else. On the contrary: if they don't already have a subscription (and many of them do), they'll boycott out of spite. Meanwhile, there must be at least a couple thousand people (and you can draw your own Venn diagram here) who won't be buying the super-duper box set precisely because it doesn't include surround mixes. Stream the Atmos mix on Apple Music and put a hi-res version of it on Blu-Ray, and you make everybody happy--and make more money, to boot. What am I missing?

So no BluRay. Fine. Then why even put out the box? For the book and the pictures? Just stream the whole damn thing.

If you're not going to put the 5.1 mix on a disc, just don't sell the discs at all. Why should surround fans have to resort to streaming while the stereo fans get their discs?

How many homes these days even have a CD player?
Well - you could always take the discs over to Darren's place. I hear he has a PS2 that can still play them.

I don’t know how they do it, nor do I imagine methodology is allowed to be discussed here anyway, but there have been no shortages of DD+/Atmos files being shared at certain online communities of albums only ever released as streaming Atmos.

I have never seen a TrueHD/Atmos file shared anywhere, just lossless 5.1 rips. And from the number of completed downloads that show in the info for those titles, I don’t think it’s taking much money off the table.

For example, on one of the most well-known torrent sites there are only 20 snatches of Abbey Road multichannel FLAC (5.1/7.1 combined)
But there is a site that has entire ISO 's of the Blu-Rays of all the Beatles deluxe releases.

Like everyone here, not happy!

That said, where are some of you finding pricing on Amazon, UK or US? The only thing I can find is the dead link posted early on. Nothing on UK or US. If someone has links, please post them even though all of us are pissed no Atmos & 5.1. If no active links then where did someone get the info that Amz UK is selling for 129 GBP?

Excuse me but doesn't do us favors to share something like that info but not post the source. Otherwise it's unverifiable or FUD.

Thank you! That's a start and A-OK for folks in the Czech Republic & I mean that in a nice way :)
Someone posted about Amz UK , I sure can't find anything there using Amz search & I've tried everything I can think of as a phrase.

I know Amz US had a dead link, but is there no listing in the US yet? At least we're getting warmer!

Thanks again.

BTW - my wife & I went to Prague in a photo workshop a few yrs before covid hit. A beautiful city and everyone we met and talked to was super-nice!!! One of our "assignments" was to go to a stranger, Czech obviously and ask that person if we could photograph them, not posed but just going about their business or connected to their surroundings. Everyone, both men & women, was extremely gracious and agreed. Some of my best photography was in Prague. Love to go back someday!
