Got an e-mail from amazon.de today. Could it be they are getting them in sooner than expected?

"Supertramp's "Breakfast in America (Pure" Expected delivery date: July 01, 2013"

I didn't know I'd even placed an order. I will probably cancel it.

update: Too late to cancel. It's status is: Versand in Kürze

Anyone noticed the new SD Blu Ray titles at the end of July ? The Bee Gee's - Eric Clapton - The Scorpians. The only info I can find is that they're released by Eagle Rock & they're uncompressed stereo & DTS HD MA

Looks like they are taking Standard Definition ("SD") concert videos, upscaling the video and then upgrading the audio from Dolby Digital to DTS Master Audio. Not the same as a HD Video release - but interesting from an audio perspective.

doesn't that just mean "Shipping Soon" or some such..?

Yes. I've done the cancellation request on it several times. Doesn't seem to work.

And why does Layla cost an extra $10?

:yikes then Supertramp must be on its way! (Bosch Bastards/Bitches!! :p I'm joking btw!).. I don't think you'll regret the BiA BD-A, it's rather nifty.

no idea..!?@: but Layla's not in stock at Amazon.de for another couple of weeks apparently, so you could still cancel that!?

This is a complete mess.
There is almost no difference at all between this & the AES approved "Pure Audio BluRay" by MSM Studios, with the sole exception of the slightly different name - yet again there is another "format war" looming.

they're both blu-ray (they're both "blu-ray audio" specifically) I don't see why it would get as messy as the SA-CD vs DVD-A debacle, where there were two genuinely different formats with distinctly different technology and implementation competing against one another.

plus you needed different hardware for a wee while to play either one, whereas these variations on a blu-ray audio theme are playable on every blu-ray player right now.

yes there'll be some consumer confusion (there always has been with any format).. yes UMG's HFPA spin off is needless when there's an AES standard already in place.. but there's no reason there should be any warring factions or that either confusion or competition should contribute to the failure of blu-ray audio. things like consumer apathy/lack of interest, competition from HDTracks/downloads more of a threat than any physical alternative, poor quality product, poor mastering/poor source material and poorly chosen artists/albums on the format will do that.

I'm not being contentious Neil but I'm curious which blu-ray audio format you will be going for with the upcoming Yes & XTC 5.1's you're working on?

The AES Pure Audio standard?
The Universal HFPA blu-ray model?
Or something more akin to the BD's in the Aqualung set & the Floyd Immersion sets (i.e. like DVD-A in HD.. on acid!).?

Hello folks,
now my supplier has all pure audio BDs in stock. But before ordering you should know that they all are in DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. So all multichannel freaks - BEWARE. No progress on previous releases, sometimes even less, e.g Diana Krall´s The Look of Love (available as multichannel SACD) is also only in 2.0. What a shame!
Seems that a new remix of the old master tapes is still something we´ll have to wait for! Thanks, music industry for the frustration!
Disappointing!

Did your supplier get this in?

it's the only one of the 36 HFPA BD-A's available so far to have a 5.1 mix.
