We´ll I´m not restricted to shopping only in Germany, but so far was very happy with jpc.de
The listing to the Serge Gainsbourg BD reads: Sound:pCM stereo 2.0/DTS-HD 2.0/Dolby True-HD 2.0

I´m not sure there is a multichannel stream on that BD. Has anyone heard that particular BD??

I haven't heard it myself but if you read back through this thread, there's several members here at QQ who have the new Serge Gainsbourg BD-A and have confirmed it has a 5.1 surround mix in PCM. it is a very good surround mix indeed, by all accounts :)

Grr.. Strolling Bones - BD-A.

I held off buying it as I've got everything of theirs' I want on SA-CD.. then my lucky ol' Brother-in-Law won it in Universal's Facebook competition and he's kindly given it to me! Yeay for Johnny! (y)

excellent! hope you enjoy it as much as I do! :D

ps. it's especially good thru PLII Music (Panorama "On") though that's not to take away from its stereo credentials, I've played around comparing it to my favourite CD mastering (A&M 393 708-2 from their Audio Master Plus Series) which is excellent but the new blu-ray bests it (to my ears on my system).

anyhoo.. ENJOY! (y)

The Supertramp Breakfast In America blu ray release is a HUGE disappointment, and amounts to something of a con. I got it a few weeks back, put it on my system only to find it has three audio choices - all of them 2-channel and none of them remarkable in any way at all. In fact - and here's the kicker - I put my 20 (or so)-year-old CD of BIA on the system to get a comparison, and guess what? The CD blew the socks off the blu ray in practically every respect - both in stereo and in simulated surround.

So... be CAREFUL spending unnecessary money on ANY of these UMG blu rays. I would certainly buy one if I knew FOR SURE there was a 5.1 remix included, but otherwise - from this experience - it's really a complete waste of time.

I said they will not sound better than CDs before they were released! They are not remastered for a start. A complete joke.

1.)

I was initially underwhelmed by the Supertramp blu-ray (you can read back through this thread, I got it the day after it came out in France) but after repeated plays, playing around with it, comparing it very carefully at all sorts of volume levels with my old A&M Master Series Plus CD, I've come to the conclusion the new blu-ray is better than my old CD, on my setup at least. its not night and day improvement and its the least impressive sounding of all the new Universal blu-ray audio's i've got so far. impressions so far- the bass is fuller, the treble a bit smoother, there's a layer of grungy grain removed (higher generation tape source?) compared to the CD.. the blu-ray is just as crankable as the old CD.. an observation, the Dolby True sounds markedly better & more dynamic than the other two & especially good thru PLII Music.
