Ps. With current exchange rates €18 Euros equates to approx £15 UK Sterling.

so these 3 BDA's are between £15 and £18. shipping was £3.

so you're talking approx $24 - $27 US, minus the VAT @20% would be $20-$25 apiece. so a bit cheaper than Music Direct etc.

That brings them pretty much in line with the proposed UK release date of Oct 21st. I speak German, and have got to say that I love how polite Amazon Germany's missives are. It sounds like a formal invitation to a 19th century dance.

I look forward to your feedback on the three that are already underway.

OK, I'm a total idiot and have no clue about the BDA releases - are they only being released in other countries besides the US and are any surround? Also, what's the URL where I can see all the titles available? Feel free to make fun of me for being so ignorant, but I've been out of the quad scene for quite a while - my "non-quad" time has been spent collecting super rare LaserDisc players and prototype units that MSB made for Dolby and Pioneer for the AC-3 system. And I bought two Runco LJR LaserDisc players, the first model and the second THX Certified one - they are the best CD players I've ever heard. Anyhow, links to BDA releases would be welcome.

Their site details which have 5.1 mixes, they are..

Five Leaves Left - Nick Drake,
A Night At The Opera - Queen,
Histoire de Melody Nelson - Serge Gainsbourg,
Sea Change - Beck.

Also in 5.1 is a promo disc produced for B&O, that can be had cheaply, of the Les Miserables soundtrack.

This is the Les Miserables movie soundtrack 5.1 disc:

Fredblue, thanks for the info. I just ordered the BDA's of Queen ANATO and Bob Marley Legend. Now I'll have 4 copies of Queen: the first DVD-A mix that is a terrible mess, the Brian May mixed DVD-A, the DVD reissue with the found bits and weird videos and now the BDA. What mix is the BDA? I wonder how it will sound compared to the DVD-A's?

i hope the Bob Marley disc has the amazing remix of Buffalo Soldier - if not, no big deal, but I love that remix. I wish Universal would release Olivia Physical on BDA - even 2channel would be fine with me. I have the heavy vinyl Audiophile Half-speed version of the album and it sounds fantastic. The original Japanese release of the Physical Video's also has superb sound and although analog FM with CX NR, it sounds better than the later digital sound LaserDisc releases.

you're welcome

I imagine the Queen BDA will be the 30th Anniversary 5.1 mix/mastering but I should get my package containing it (among other goodies) from Germany later this week so will know soon.

what am I listening out for in the Buffalo Soldier remix? (I have the Legend BDA already, so can give you a heads up on that score) :)

On the cassette release but not the CD, Buffalo Soldier was a fast, very cool, dance-type mix with a heavy bass beat and all kinds of added instruments and synth. Not the slow version on the CD. It's an amazing mix and I've only ever found it on the cassette release in place of the slow, regular version. I believe its a demo version that was only released on Compact Cassette and LP.

I'll double check tonight but pretty sure it's not on the BDA. Does sound funky though! :p

I do hate it when they do that!

I first bought Scritti Politti's 'Cupid & Psyche '85' on cassette in 1985. I subsequently bought the CD some years later and discovered that the mix of 'Perfect Way' was quite different and, IMHO, inferior. Took me a while to hunt down and locate the mix I had on cassette.

Now there's an album that would blow my mind in 5.1! ;)

OMG! They changed Perfect Way? That song was brilliant on the LP! It would be mind blowing in 5.1. Back when Brad Miller was releasing DTS CD's I asked him to check if Olivia Physical was available to be remixed for DTS CD and he contacted MCA and they couldn't find the multitrack originals, just the stereo master. Perhaps that's why we get different versions - the damn studios can't keep track of their inventory.

I wish it was Feist's Reminder album instead. I'm just waiting around for the release dates here in the US. I usually buy from Acoustic Sounds but they haven't said when exactly these items will ship. I'm just excited more high quality audio items are coming out. It probably won't go anywhere just like with DVD-A and SACD but you never know.

Man, I would love ANY Feist in SURROUND but the higher res stereo doesn't press my rebuy button.
