I grew up on Country and Rock. I played in a Country band as a teen, had a pretty good voice until hours shouting over a .50 Cal in a chopper ruined it.
Modern Country music is OK, but I'm not super enthused about it. Give me some Merle and Conway.

George and Tammy used to live near my home town. George used to ride his lawnmower to the Highland Bar (quite some distance!). That's where I met him. Never met Tammy. They had concerts in a field in back of their house, and parking was in their orange grove.

On thinking, there's a little more to the story. My Dad was known to travel around and hit the bars. He called me one day and told me to come to the bar he was at, he wanted me to meet someone. I walked out of the bright Florida sunshine into this dark bar and it took a few minutes for my eyes to adjust. Then I heard my Dad's voice, and "Possums" voice. I located them and walked over and my Dad introduced us. Unfortunately George did not hang around very long after I got there. He hopped on his mower and took off.
I had a lady friend, and old school chum that was in a bad car accident and was confined to a wheelchair. She lived on the property in the guesthouse along with another lady in the same condition. I never got/don't remember the whole story about that, but after George and Tammy broke up she was still living there after I moved to North Florida in the early 80's AFAIK.
