LOTR expanded version just finished The Two Towers...I feel cheated..Lots of really handsome dudes but the women are... meh..
Sorry, my point of view...

But it's a hell of an active mix!!!!!

Quite honestly Kap, not every woman can be as exquistely beautiful as your beloved Capucine

Not my thing but I appreciate cool collector editions of movies. https://turbine-shop.de/detail/index/sArticle/30475
Premium Editions of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE incl. a remastered UHD Blu-ray with HDR and Dolby Visioncoming 25.03.22!
For collectors, chainsaw enthusiasts of all ages and those of you who just can’t get enough of the classic TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE after more than 20 Turbine releases, we have something in store for you: In four different slipcases, each limited to 550 copies, you’ll find a 60-page booklet (in German) in German and a Steelbook with three discs. In addition to the familiar Blu-ray and bonus Blu-ray of Tobe Hooper’s milestone, the Steelbook also includes a remastered UHD of the film for the first time. Based on the 40th anniversary 4K restoration, our colleagues at LSP Medien have newly encoded the film giving it the HDR 10 and Dolby Vision treatment. The sun over Texas will burn in your home theaters even more authentically than ever before. The sound comes in Dolby Atmos and Auro 13.1, the original mono mixes are also included of course, as well as four audio commentaries. The film, which was shot on 16mm, has not been „smoothed out“ for UHD as if it was shot yesterday. Its look has always been distinguished by film grain, which is reproduced here in the best way possible.
The Steelbook, booklet and discs are identical in all slipcases.
The Premium Editions are available for pre-order exclusively in the Turbine Shop starting NOW.

True Detective (Season 2) BD:
1. Pretty discrete and active surround mix most of the time for the audio and sound effects. Worth a look for this alone methinks.
2. Kinda bleak though. I don't recall one laugh in the whole series. Entertaining though and I'm enjoying it more watching it a second time.

I watched the Native UHD4K remaster of Joe Dante's THE HOWLING into the wee small hours and can report the restoration and 5.1 DTS~HD MA 5.1 soundtrack afford this low budget film a luster previously missing from all former releases. Rob Bottin's incredible werewolf transformations look better than ever, the clarity and color of the werewolf woodland compound, vibrant.......so for those wishing to make a purchase a very high recommendation.

StudioCanal/Steelbook Edition/HDR/Dolby Vision/DTS~HD MA 5.1

Shout Factory has also released their own 4K version based on the Studio Canal restoration on 2/15/22.

Nice. The 5.1 on the BD I have from a few years ago is really good considering it was originally mono. Better than a lot of other 5.1 movie mixes out there.

It should ben noted that Disney has been slow in re~releasing Fox's vast catalogue into UHD4K upgrades. A scant few like PATTON are in the pipeline so we shall see what 21st Century Disney does with 20th Century Fox's previous rich and diverse back catalogue titles.

It should also be noted that James Cameron has completed a complete 4K restoration of THE ABYSS, also a Twentieth Century Fox title but according to Digital Bits probably won't be released in 2022!

Awesome! Hope all the different versions are included. Aliens next please.

THIS according to The Digital Bits:

  • Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection – TBD (4K release possible, Aliens perhaps with other Cameron catalog titles in 2023 or later tied to the Hulu debut of the in-development Noah Hawley TV series) – N4K
Apparently, Cameron's 'obsession' with the Avatar sequels is preventing these films from being released on a more 'timely' basis in UHD4K!

Cool. Bring on Aliens.

Avatar: Yawn!

I did see AVATAR in the theater in 3D and it was pretty awesome .... but Cameron is 'obsessed' with making numerous sequels. Is he beating a dead horse to death .......?????
Yeah, the 3D was good. Like a ride. I recall the BD sounding great as you'd expect too. Strictly a brain-off-volume-up watch for me!

They'll all probably make a ton of money and allow him to keep exploring the depths.

I saw Avatar in the theater in 3D as well and it was awesome, but after the novelty had worn off I realized that the 3D effects were really what made the movie great. I got the blu-ray when it first came out (not 3D) and have had little desire to watch it. Given my ambivalence toward the original and the amount of time that has passed since the first movie was released, I am finding it hard to care about the sequels. Maybe my tune will change when the sequels are actually in the theater.

Perhaps Cameron will revitalize 3D in the process and convince hardware manufacturers to re~introduce 3D into their OLED flatscreens. Avatar in 3D on BD~V [1080p] is AWESOME on my LG 3D Curved 3D flatscreen.

I did enjoy DUNE in 3D but it didn't have the dizzying effect of Avatar in 3D which was originally designed and shot for 3D!
